Disney and ImageMovers Developing Stoneheart Trilogy
Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers and Disney are in negotiations to acquire the rights to Charlie Fletcher's young-adult fantasy book series "The Stoneheart Trilogy". The news that ImageMovers is involved means, of course, that this is going to be developed as a completely CGI film based on motion-capture performances, much like Polar Express and Beowulf. The books revolve around a London boy who discovers a hidden world where statues come to life. The boy's presence upsets a balance between good and evil, and he must team with an orphan girl and the statue of a World War I gunner to try to set things right.

Yahoo's 100 Movies to See Before You Die List Fully Unveiled
Yahoo debuted their own list of 100 Movies to See Before You Die today, which is both a gimmick for getting visitors and a good list worth mentioning. The last list that we put up that garnered quite a heated response was EW's 25 Greatest Active Film Directors. But let's get right into this, because I expect some interesting discussions to arise about Yahoo's picks. "Many movies are good, some are great, but only a select few can be called truly "essential." After heated discussions, long negotiations, and a shouting match or two, the staff at Yahoo Movies has put together this list of the 100 films you must see before you die."

Must Watch: Brand New TV Spot for Star Trek!
Paramount has unveiled a new TV spot for Star Trek today, to go along with the epic new trailer we saw a few weeks ago and the Super Bowl TV spot we saw back in February. There are a couple of new scenes and some footage we haven't seen yet, which is always exciting, but I'm not particularly a fan of this TV spot. I think Paramount has officially kicked off their big marketing campaign that will get non-geek mainstream audiences interested in Trek and the choice of music in this trailer is their first indication that they want more than just the nerdy audiences. It's an understandable desire, of course, but will they pull it off?

Russell Crowe's State of Play Gets a Sharp New TV Spot
I'm featuring this new TV spot for State of Play today for a few reasons. First off, I'm actually quite excited to see this, and I want to give it some extra exposure. Secondly, we've only seen the trailer for State of Play so far, so it's good to see something new. And third, I just love the line from this: "Good reporters don't have friends, only sources." It's so true for a couple of colleagues I know. Anyway, give this a shot, as it could actually be pretty good. It's got a solid director, Kevin Macdonald of The Last King of Scotland, and a good screenwriter, Tony Gilroy of Michael Clayton, so maybe it's another sleeper hit in waiting?

Drop Out Monday: Zac Efron Ditches Footloose, Amanda Seyfried Kicks Sucker Punch
As we all know so very well, Hollywood is fickle, and nothing is ever official until it's on film. Two big casting deals have fallen through today that we should mention. Zac Efron has officially dropped out of Paramount's Footloose movie after being announced back in October. Efron has said that "he didn't want to make a musical at this point [in] his career" and HitFix is reporting that he was "also incredibly disappointed in the script the studio was trying to fast track into production." Amanda Seyfried has also officially dropped out of Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch movie after being announced earlier this month.

Director Hired for Eli Roth's Excorcism Horror Cotton
I'm not personally a fan of exorcism movies, but apparently there is quite a big enough audience for them, as they to continue to get made (just look at The Haunting in Connecticut out this weekend). The horror gurus over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Eli Roth has a new project that he is producing called Cotton and that they've hired a new director - Daniel Stamm (seen above). Cotton is a documentary-shot horror film in the vein of Cloverfield and Blair Witch Project. The story concerns an evangelical minister who turns against religion and decides to participate in a documentary in which he practices his last exorcism.

Foul-Mouthed Red Band Crank: High Voltage TV Spot
I think it's time to kick off the work week with some F-bombs, stripper nudity, and Chev Chelios mayhem. The last good action movie to arrive before the summer movie season is Crank: High Voltage, in theaters on April 17th. This TV spot isn't supposed to be seen here in the US, but I really think there's no better way this movie can be represented than with footage like this. Within 30-seconds, they've shown us all the exact reasons why I love the Crank movies: they're crazy over-the-top edgy entertainment, led by an ever crazier character, who fights off even crazier thugs for 90 minutes. It doesn't get any better than that!

Check This Out: Final Poster for Greg Mottola's Adventureland
This is a our reminder that Greg Mottola's Adventureland hits theaters on April 3rd, so don't miss it. Miramax has sent over the final poster for the film, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Bill Hader, and Ryan Reynolds. I'm going to warn you that this isn't exactly the comedy you may think it is. While Greg Mottola did direct Superbad prior to this, it's much more of a drama about relationships than it is a straight up comedy. Some will find this just as entertaining, while others will be let down. You've been warned! Though in all honesty, it's still a very good film in the end, and most should at least enjoy it.

First Look: Lars von Trier's Antichrist Indie Thriller
Now this is definitely a first look photo you've got to see! Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier has been hard at work on his latest feature film, titled Antichrist, since his last project The Boss of It All in 2006. This psychological thriller / horror film follows a married couple - Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg - who head to a cabin in the woods after losing their young son and run into some terrifying occurrences (like the one seen below). We've heard this project mentioned a few times previously, but thanks to Empire, this is our very first look at a photo from the film, and it's one hell of a striking and unforgettable introduction.

Terminator Salvation Ending Was Completely Changed After Leak?
Everyone knows I hate spoilers and don't like revealing anything big, so with this bit of news, you're safe knowing that even we have no clue what's going to happen in Terminator Salvation. So the story goes that last June, the big twist ending of Terminator Salvation was leaked online (we, appropriately, never reported on it). Thankfully this was early enough into the production, that apparently McG and company completely changed the ending after that point. Moviehole is reporting that a friend inside of Warner Brothers has seen the film and tells them that the end was changed and is nothing like what was leaked.

First Official Batch of Where the Wild Things Are Photos!
With the official trailer for Where the Wild Things Are due out sometime this week, it's fitting that USA Today debut the first batch of real photos from the film. In addition, the newspaper talked with director Spike Jonze about the production and gots a few interesting details out of him. "As a kid, I just connected to it. I wanted to hear it over and over," Jonze says of Maurice Sendak's 1963 book about Max, an angry boy who escapes to a mythical land of untamed giant beasts. "It's like trying to explain why you love somebody. To me, the Wild Things are both cuddly and dangerous. I wanted to climb atop of them like Max."

Coen Brothers Finally Developing True Grit Western Next
We've heard it discussed before, but now the Coen Brothers will officially remake the 1969 western True Grit for their next feature film. Variety confirmed today that Joel and Ethan Coen are developing their version of True Grit, the iconic western that won John Wayne an Oscar, as their next project after they finish A Serious Man. The Coen's version will be less of a remake and more of a re-adaptation of Charles Portis' book that it's based on; they'll tell the story from the point of view of the protagonist 14-year-old girl rather than the lead actor as well. Oscar winning produce Scott Rudin is producing for Paramount.
