Time Magazine Says Avatar Cost Upwards of $200 Million - Updated!
After more than a year of writing about James Cameron's Avatar, I think it's about time we get to see some actual footage. Cameron has been strategically planning when to debut the first trailer, not only so that the footage we see is completely finished, but so that it captures the interest of nearly everyone. Josh Quittner of Time Magazine was shown the very first footage from Avatar and seemed pretty much blown away. But one of the most interesting tidbits from his article pertains to the budget. "More than a thousand people have worked on it, at a cost in excess of $300 million, and it represents digital filmmaking's bleeding edge."

Summit Debuts the Trailer for Sorority Row Horror
Summit Entertainment has debuted the trailer for their Halloween slasher film Sorority Row, a remake of the 1983 film The House on Sorority Row. This has a very I Know What You Did Last Summer vibe, with a killer that reminds me of Scream and a group of girls straight out of Black Christmas. Could this be any more formulaic? And if you didn't already know, besides a gaggle of hotties, this also stars Carrie Fisher. Personally, not only do I hate most college movies, but I hate most cheesy slasher flicks, and this is a combination of both of those. So I think you all know what I'm about to say, but I won't anyway. Enjoy?

Pete Segal Taking Over for Jay Roach on Little Fockers
It looks like director Pete Segal will not be jumping onto Get Smart 2 this year was originally expected. Due to Steve Carell's choice to shoot the comedy Date Night for Fox instead of Get Smart 2, Segal was able to hop onto Little Fockers, the third film in Universal's comedy franchise comprise of Meet the Parents (2000) and Meet the Fockers (2004). Those two films were the work of director Jay Roach, who is being replaced by Segal this time around. As you might have already guessed, Little Fockers is about a baby arriving in the Focker and the Byrnes families, who were both first introduced in those past two films.

Exciting New X-Men Origins: Wolverine TV Spot Hits
Although we've seen just about everything from X-Men Origins: Wolverine that Fox will show us, there is awesome new TV spot that has just hit that needs to be seen. Thanks to one of our readers, we've got the video below, and if you're excited for Wolverine in the least, you better watch this now. The TV spot names all the main characters: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Emma Frost, Agent Zero, Cyclops, Silver Fox, Blob, and Gambit. Screw the reshoots, screw all the bad things I've heard, I want to see this right now. This new TV spot looks pretty damn good. I really cannot wait to kick off the summer movie season with Wolverine!

Oh Yes, Another Badass Poster for Terminator Salvation!
As if you couldn't already be more excited for Terminator Salvation, Warner Brothers has put one more badass poster via IGN today. A few weeks ago during WonderCon, WB put out the first batch of posters and banners, and they were quite awesome. But I kept thinking to myself, where is Christian Bale, and why does the main poster feature the robots kicking ass when it's supposed to be the humans we're rooting for? Well, here's the answer! I guess I just needed to give it some more time... I've also added the two most recent Terminator posters next to this newest one, to show you where it all began and now where we're at.

Star Trek's Chris Pine the Frontrunner to Play Hal Jordan?
While we've heard numerous casting rumors recently surrounding Green Lantern, we finally have an update that not only comes from legitimate sources, but seems like the perfect fit. It was first reported by IESB (and separately confirmed by Latino Review) that Warner Brothers is looking at Chris Pine for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. Although J.J. Abrams' Star Trek isn't out yet, we already know Pine as the newest Captain James T. Kirk. And it was Kevin Smith who said last August that Pine "is going to be so famous" and that "the guy that plays the lead is an instant star." Good news?

Fox Atomic Developing Adaptation of Blacklight Game - Updated!
It's rare we see deals made on video games that haven't even been announced, but it does actually happen occasionally in Hollywood. Fox Atomic has signed a deal with Zombie Studios for the rights to their forthcoming video game Blacklight. Fox will help develop the game as well as a comic book series and a feature film. Newcomer Jason Dean Hall will write both the video game and the big screen adaptation. "We are excited by the huge potential Blacklight has to succeed across multiple platforms," said Fox Atomic president Debbie Liebling. "It offers us a remarkable franchise opportunity for film." More info below.

Must Watch: Great Trailer for Harold Ramis' Year One!
Sony has just debuted the first official trailer for Year One, the biblical comedy from Harold Ramis. We've seen a Super Bowl TV spot and a full scene from Year One, but this is the first official trailer, and it looks a lot better than I was expecting after that footage previously. Michael Cera and Jack Black star along with newcomer Juno Temple as Cera's love interest and Olivia Wilde as Black's love interest. There are some great one-liners in this trailer, and I figure there will be a lot more great quotes in it as well. I don't think it'll be the funniest comedy this summer (that's Apatow's Funny People), but it'll at least be entertaining.

Ronald D. Moore's Script for The Thing Prequel is Finished!
John Carpenter's original The Thing first scared audiences back in 1982, and now 27 years later an extension of that story has finally been written and is being readied for the big screen. "Battlestar Galactica" scribe Ronald D. Moore (who was announced back in January) told IGN this week, "I did my drafts. They were happy. They have a director and, you know, it's the feature world and I'm not the key player so we just wait and see if they're going to greenlight it or not. I'm not the chef. I'm the short-order cook who comes in and does my thing and we'll see what they want to serve." Well put. Now we just hope it's a good script.

Another First Look at Angelina Jolie in Phillip Noyce's Salt
A couple of weeks back we ran two first look photos of the always stunning Angelina Jolie in Phillip Noyce's Salt. The film is about a CIA operative (Jolie) who tries to clear her name after she is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. While those first two photos were pretty much portraits, courtesy of Jeffrey Wells' Hollywood Elsewhere, we finally have a photo from a scene in Salt. Wells describes the scene: "A cuffed and dusty Evelyn Salt being roughly escorted to a police van on Park Avenue following some violent chaos inside St. Bart's." I'm assuming the photo is not official, but shot by a bystander in New York.
