Steve Carell to Star in Warner Brothers' Dumped Adaptation

Warner Brothers has acquired the comedy Dumped, being written by Vic Levin based on a forthcoming novel by Andrew Gottlieb. The project is being developed for Steve Carell to star, with his production company supporting the back end as well. Carell would play a man searching for new meaning in his life after his wife abruptly files for divorce. Unfortunately, that's the only synopsis there is, although I've got a feeling there is a bit more to this, as a concept that simple wouldn't normally make headlines and attract Carell. No word on who is being pursued as a director, although I'm thinking Vic Levin might take it.
Dumped is one of a handful of projects pursuing Carell. He's obviously very high profile, and supportive of great scripts, because not only has his production company actually decided to produce most of these projects, but he's being courted by so many different studios. Word is that Carell will end up shooting Shawn Levy's Date Night during his next hiatus from "The Office", however, he's also got Hi-T, The Beaver, Get Smart 2, and other films in the works afterward. Because I don't know enough about the concept, I can't say I'm sold on this yet. I need to know more about why it's so unique. Any big Steve Carell fans?

He really needs to stop his Micheal Scott performance. We all know he can do Micheal Scott very well but he's begining to become very one-note in his film roles. His little part in Anchorman shows hes great at doing different kinds of characters. I hope he starts mixing it up a little or else well start getting the Will Farrell "Semi-Pro" syndrome

Steve Carrell is great!! He had a heck of a breakthrough role with 40 Year Old Virgin w/ Apatow so that was a great start. The Office is hilarious, one of the best shows on TV.
I was disappointed with Get Smart and Dan In Real Life though….not some of his better performances
