Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart to Star in Rabbit Hole
April 2, 2009
by Alex Billington
No, this is not another re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland, nor is it another twisted take on an Alice in Wonderland-like story (think Sucker Punch), Rabbit Hole is a relationship drama being adapted from David Lindsay-Abaire's stage play. Aaron Eckhart is in negotiations to star opposite Nicole Kidman in the film, which is being directed by John Cameron Mitchell, of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Shortbus. Eckhart and Kidman will play a happily married couple that is disrupted by an unexpected tragedy surrounding their young daughter and the emotional journey they must undertake to regain happiness.
Fox Searchlight is developing the project, which is set to start shooting in May, with Nicole Kidman's own Blossom Films producing. The stage play first premiered in 2005 and won David Lindsay-Abaire the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2007. Lindsay-Abaire is adapting the screenplay himself for this feature film. I love Aaron Eckhart, and I'm happy to see him returning to his indie roots. As for Kidman, I thought she already screwed over an indie drama last year - Noah Baumbach's Margot at the Wedding. Anyway, we'll keep our eye on this project and let you know how it all develops and if anyone else joins the cast.

Leo, I love you! And what do they mean she screwed over margot at the wedding?? She did an amazing job in that movie, very well acted. I don't get why people take such pleasure in putting people down for no reason constantly, aka nicole kidman. I personally love her because she is a brilliant actor and I think she chooses her roles quite well.
