First Trailer for Robert Rodriguez's New Kids Movie 'Shorts'

Are you ready for "mild action and some rude humor" from Robert Rodriguez? Warner Brothers has debuted the new trailer for Shorts, Rodriguez's newest kids movie in the same vein as Spy Kids and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D. Don't expect anything too exciting out of this - it's just a kids movie. Shorts is about a bullied kid that finds a magical rainbow colored rock that grants him wishes. And yep, Robert Rodriguez not only wrote and directed it, but he's also credited as the editor, producer, visual effects supervisor, and cinematographer. It looks kind of fun, I guess, I'll probably see it. Will you?
Watch the first trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Shorts:
You can also watch the trailer for Shorts in High Definition on Apple
A young boy's (Jimmy Bennett) discovery of a colorful, wish-granting rock causes chaos in the suburban town of Black Falls when jealous kids and scheming adults alike set out to get their hands on it.
Shorts is both written and directed by Texan filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, of Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2, Spy Kids 3-D, and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D, as well as Sin City and El Mariachi. All of his previous kids movies have been distributed by Dimension Films, however he switched it up this time and went with Warner Brothers instead. WB will be bringing Shorts to theaters on August 7th this summer.

Looks like crappy acting (especially at the end), but they are kids…I think it'll be "entertaining".

What are you doing Robert?
This looks much worse than Spy Kids 3D!!
Robert, you should be doing Red Sonja or Sin City 2 or Machete or a new Mariachi!!!
The thing I hate the most is that this type of shit sells a lot.

Take a chill pill guys.
RR has kids and this is the film he wants to do right now. Especially with Sin City 2 is development hell.
Cant believe you're hating him for doing what he wants! Surely thats to be applauded.
Also, Im glad RR is making a kids film thats guaranteed to be good, instead of shit like 'Hotel for Dogs'.
Loved the Little Nicky music. Adds to the cheekyness.

It's because of these kids movies that Robert Rodriguez has the money and autonomy from Hollywood to make stuff like Sin City and Grindhouse. If you want another awesome movie wait it out.

Even my kids would think this is dumb. And they'll watch anything. Even Indy IV.

The little girl reminds me of christina ricci or she at least looks like her. I'll probably pass on this but I can see how kids will probably like it.

TV Networks here we come… but.. think I would see it in the theatres as this is right up my 9 yr olds alley… loves the SK movies, so think I will be there.

Watch my words: you will not like Sin City 2. Because there will be nothing new or revolutionary in it. Go and get the Sin City comic books, there is everything in them.

I've heard from SEVERAL people that have worked with Rodriguez that he is in fact a giant Douche Bag. He consistently takes credit for other peoples work and is a complete ego maniac… BTW has anyone seen him without a hat or bandana on? I bet he's bald with a giant butt crack running down the middle of his head.

Looks ok, since it's Rodriguez I will check it out - He knows how to make an entertaining film. I'm surprised Elizabeth Avellan is still working with him.

You guys (I'm going out on a limb here) really need to relax. It looks like a fun movie. I've had enough of the chest-beating macho bullshit, the Sin City movie was exactly like the comic except for the PoMo tongue in cheek, it was so self-serious that it was guaranteed to descend into comedy (just this time I was laughing AT it - rather than WITH it).
Shorts reminds me of Malcom in the Middle, Eerie Indiana or The Adventures of Pete and Pete. All great shows. And yeah, the acting isn't great, but at least we are seeing kids acting like kids instead of these creepy 8-year old adults with one eye on the gross revenue and the other on Lee Strasberg.
