Ralph Fiennes Joins Clash of the Titans Remake as Hades
April 8, 2009
by Alex Billington
Ah yes, Voldemort will finally take on the Gods! Variety has announced that Ralph Fiennes is in negotiations to star as Hades, the lord of the underworld, in Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans remake. This is just further proof that this reboot is a far departure from the 1981 original, with a completely revised story, since Hades wasn't in that version. Sam Worthington will star as Perseus, Gemma Arterton as his love interest Io, as well as Mads Mikkelsen as Draco and Alexa Davalos as Andromeda. Liam Neeson had been set to play Zeus, but his involvement is uncertain following the death of wife Natasha Richardson.
Fiennes' involvement in Clash of the Titans isn't exactly confirmed, however, because he has a handful of other commitments and is trying to squeeze in everything before shooting the final two Harry Potter movies. Fiennes is also looking to appear in Ricky Gervais' The Men at the Pru and stop by Britain to shoot an uncredited cameo in the Nanny McPhee sequel. Then in the fall he'll go back and shoot Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which has strict 2010 and 2011 release dates. Here's to hoping he ends up appearing in Clash of the Titans, because I'd love to see Fiennes, who is still one of my favorite actors, in this role!

Cool news, if they can't get Neeson, a great actor himself, to play Zeus, then I suggest they get Bill Nighy to play Zeus, because then we could hear him deliver the immortal line from Pirates of the Caribbean "Unleash the Kraken"
Nighy has a great voice, he fits the role of Zeus if you ask me.

Wow! So far so good! I sure hope Liam Neeson does join, but given the circumstances, it's understandable. This flick is gonna be good!

Well said #2. Nighy would be a solid replacement.

Good choice. Fiennes plays sinister and malevolent characters so well. Just watched The Duchess last night and he is such a great bad guy. He makes me hate him…and I love him for that!
