David O. Russell Helming 'Aaron and Sarah' for Fox 2000

It looks like David O. Russell is finally ready to move on from the doomed project Nailed to another romantic comedy. Russell has signed on to direct the project Aaron and Sarah for Fox 2000. The story centers on a nerdy guy and a popular girl who meet as freshmen and, over four years of high school, four proms and one funeral, become friends and eventually fall in love. Husband and wife team Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey, of Sydney White and a few episodes of "Pushing Daisies", wrote the screenplay. Milk producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen have come on board to produce the film.
Aaron and Sarah had been in development at Rogue Pictures under its previous title, B.F.F., but Fox 2000 picked it up in turnaround last year. The film, which is described as in a similar vein to John Hughes' teen comedies, is a departure for Russell, who typically deals with modern existential angst (I Heart Huckabees, Flirting With Disaster) and politics (Three Kings, Nailed). This seems like a chance for Russell to recover and get his career back on the right track after the Nailed disaster (read about that here), but unfortunately coming from the writers of Sydney White, I don't expect much from this. Try again next time, David?

I kind of love David O. Russell (who am I kidding, I love the guy), so I watch all his movies. Meaning, I'm looking forward to any of his projects. Including this one, I guess.
