Alamo Drafthouse's Cinemapocalypse Invades LA This Week!
April 15, 2009
by Alex Billington
If you live in Los Angeles, there's an event you don't want to miss this week! Austin's original Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is taking their popular classic exploitation movie series on the road. And this Thursday and Friday night, the Cinemapocalypse tour will stop by the New Beverly Cinema for two special presentations. Alamo Weird Wednesday programmer Lars Nilsen and Terror Tuesday curator Zack Carlson are bringing rare and unseen treasures from their 35mm bunker, which you won't want to miss! This week's line-up: Julie Darling, Poor Pretty Eddie, Psycho From Texas, Surf II, and Carnival Magic.
Below are the films lined up for this week in Los Angeles at the New Beverly (7165 West Beverly Blvd). You can find the complete tour schedule and more information at the official Cinemapocalypse blog.
Thursday, April 16th:
Psychosexual Maniacs Triple Feature
Julie Darling (1983) / Poor Pretty Eddie (1975) / Psycho From Texas (1981)
Friday, April 17th:
Barrel of Monkeys Double Feature
Surf II: The End of the Trilogy (1984) / Carnival Magic (1981)
Of course, LA isn't the only stop on the Cinemapocalypse road trip. In San Francisco they're showing Mr. Scarface, Chained Heat, Vigilante, Raw Force, Escape from New York, and Lady Terminator; in Portland they're showing Gator Bait and Psycho From Texas; and in Seattle they're showing Vice Squad, Nightmare Maker, Tourist Trap, Super Soul Brother, and The Deadly Spawn. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic tour that you won't want to miss! If you didn't know, the Alamo Drafthouse is the greatest movie theater in the whole world, and now they're bringing a taste of their own private collection right to you.
