Fascinating Trailer for Disneynature's Oceans Documentary

In honor of today being Earth Day, Disney has launched the trailer for their newest nature movie Oceans, due out in theaters exactly one year from today, on Earth Day 2010. While I'm at it, I should mention that I saw Disneynature's Earth last week, and it's actually pretty amazing. I would highly suggest seeing it, especially since it just hit theaters today and Disney has a promotion running where your ticket money is used to help save the Earth. Anyway, half of this trailer features archival footage of Walt Disney talking about his original "True-Life Adventures" films, and it's fascinating to watch simply for that alone. Enjoy!

A fascinating journey into the depths of the ocean, amidst the tumult of the storms, in the vast territory of those who inhabit the sea. Part thriller, part meditation on the wonders of the sub-aquatic world.
Oceans is co-directed by French filmmakers Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud, who previously brought us the documentary Winged Migration in 2002. While this is part of Disneynature's on-going series, it was originally a French production made by Galatée Films before being scooped up by Disney for distribution in the US. Disney will bring Oceans to theaters everywhere on Earth Day next year, April 22nd, 2010.

Looks like you'd get the same visual/entertaining experience if you watched 'Planet Earth's section on the ocean.
Seems like the only thing separating itself from the norm would be the connection to Walt's original 'True Adventures' idea and where they would take it.
All the more to help raise money for wildlife, then why not?

All of the footage from "Earth" is taken directly from "Planet Earth" and repurposed to tell stories in order to keep kids and their ADHD in check. For good measure they added James Earl Jones doing VO because everything is better with JEJ doing VO.
I'm ok with them doing this if it gets kids and families interested in quality nature stuff like this. I don't like that they are making it out to be brand new material though.

Like schizznic wrote, a lot of the material is in "Planet Earth". If you haven't seen the Planet Earth series yet, it is an absolute must see!

Hey can somebody that's seen this tell me if it there are "shark flips seal in the air and bites it in half" style scenes? (If not this, how was Earth? I realize nature = violence, but I'd like to keep my kid from the blood-squirtiest parts at this age.)

I'm beginning to LOVE Disney again. Except for their horrible teen shows, Disney is producing good work. Their Blu-Ray Transfers are top-notch and this will be a BLAST I hope. Walt was a genius.

That looks awesome! Everyone go see EARTH this week. Disney will plant a tree in the Brazilian rain forest for everyone who buys a ticket during it's first weeks release. Something very simple we all can do to make a difference.

Is this Blue Planet again?
I'll still go see Earth even though I saw Planet Earth on TV twice and own the DVD. Especially cus they'll plant a tree if I do. Still, some new footage would be nice.

I liked the final third of the trailer, those jellyfish ruled, the crap at the beginning with Walt Hitler was a bit dull to say the least.

As usual, Disney does it bigger than life and I love it. Growing up with Disney, it's nice to see them going back to what they do best. Why are most of you so pessimistic? And DAMN, Disney does nice trailers!

Earth was done with Planet earth,
and im pretty sure this is too, to blue planet. ( not too sure, but i was sick of everybody saying that disney is awesome for Earth)
