Rodriguez Co-Directing Machete with Editor Ethan Maniquis

So maybe Danny Trejo was right about this all along… As you might've noticed earlier today in our article about Robert Rodriguez directing an eventual Predator reboot, the filmmaker is also finally going to make Machete, the full version of the "fake" trailer that he put together with Danny Trejo for Grindhouse in 2007. Rodriguez is eyeing a June start date in Austin for Machete, a film that is financed and produced by Overnight Productions, with Danny Trejo reprising his badass role. Rodriguez wrote the script and will direct the film with Ethan Maniquis, his longtime editor. It's about time this is finally going to get made!
In case you have forgotten, then damnit, you go put in your copy of Planet Terror on DVD and watch the Machete trailer again! But in all seriousness, as a reminder, Machete is about a Mexican ex-Federale (Trejo) with a gift for wielding dual blades, who hides out as a day laborer, but is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator and goes to get his vengeance. The slogan that Rodriguez used in the trailer was: "This time, they fucked with the wrong Mexican." Hopefully they'll be able to keep that in the marketing this time, because there's no better way to sell the movie than with that tagline alone. Bring on some Danny Trejo mayhem!

ive seen the trailor but isnt it basically the same role from desperado except with machetes…like instead of throwing knives itll b machetes?! Serioulsy i dont give a damn i thought his role in that movie was too damn small. I cant wait to see a full length flick with Trejo kicking ass left and right!!!!Whooo!!! Bring iT!!! ( TREJO MAYHEM)!

#5 - The character in Spy Kids is actually the same character as in this movie, Rodriguez wrote the script for Machete years ago and then shelved it and when he went to do Spy Kids he brought the character back as like an in-joke for himself kinda.

Trejo was in a small but explosive role in BREAKING BAD on AMC this week. If you haven't seen this show, start watching. It's the best thing on TV now!

Danny Trejo is simply badass in what he does.I love the guy and i loved almost all of his roles in the movies that he showed up in even as a cameo appearance.

I also hope that Robert casts Danny in his Predator movie as well. Could you imagine Danny going up against a predator. The tagline could be (They F**ked with the wrong human).

I commented earlier on an article about this the Rodriguez but I am not to familiar with Maniquis. Either the movie should play very well among certain audiences.
