A Few New Lovely Photos from The Time Traveler's Wife
The very last time we even mentioned The Time Traveler's Wife was in February of last year, and before that, our only other feature was written in January of 2008, when we first debuted some photos. What I'm trying to say is that its been a long time since we've seen anything, however, Warner Brothers is confident that they'll finally get it out in theaters this year with a locked release date. As part of their summer preview, they've debuted a batch of new photos from the film, which I've decided to feature today as a way of reminding everyone that The Time Traveler's Wife does still exist and will hopefully be out this year.

Dan Brown's Next Novel 'The Lost Symbol' Out in September
Six years after the release of "The Da Vinci Code," Dan Brown is back with another novel titled "The Lost Symbol," a thriller set during a 12-hour period featuring symbolist Robert Langdon. As we already know, Sony is set to release Angels & Demons in theaters on May 15th, Dan Brown's first novel featuring Robert Langdon. I'm sure they're already fleshing out the details to secure the rights to "The Lost Symbol" and get that into production following Angels & Demons. "The Lost Symbol" will hit bookshelves on September 15th later this year. Being a fan of Brown's previous two novels, I know I'll be picking it up that very day.

The J.J. Abrams' Edited Issue of Wired is Out This Week!
Not only do I finally get to see Star Trek this week, but I'm hoping I get to talk with J.J. Abrams sometime over the weekend. I think he's an absolutely brilliant guy and utterly fascinating to listen to (just watch his talk from TED a few years ago). Our friends at TrekMovie have reminded us that hitting shelves this week is the newest issue of Wired magazine, which was guest edited by J.J. Abrams. Not only did he write an article for it about mysteries and spoilers, but it's packed full of puzzles, games, and other fascinating Abrams' goodies. They've also just put up a photo of the cover of this newest issue and I'm dying to get it.

Behind-the-Scenes First Look at Kristen Bell's When in Rome
An early behind-the-scenes first look at Kristen Bell's new comedy When in Rome, directed by Mark Steven Johnson, aired as part of Disney's Backlot Buzz TV show. As far as I can recall, this is the first time I've even heard of this movie, so before we even have a trailer, this is our first introduction. And I'm not too excited by any of it, except for the supporting cast. The only point I laughed during this entire video was at Jon Heder's character, the street magician, who is clearly a spoof of Criss Angel. But other than that, this looks like nothing more than your standard romantic comedy that we've seen countless times before.

Michael Bay's 'Small Movie' is an Adaptation of Pain and Gain
At the end of last week, we wrote about how Michael Bay wanted to direct a "small movie" in between Transformers 2 and 3. He only hinted that it would be a "dark comedy," but didn't say much else, at least not at the time. However, SlashFilm was sent a tip over the weekend, stating that Bay's small movie is actually an adaptation of a Miami New Times article from 1999 called "Pain & Gain" (which you can read online here). The true story is about a couple of steroid-abusing knucklehead bodybuilders from Florida who become criminals involved in an extortion ring and a a kidnapping plot that all goes horribly wrong.

Toby Kebbell Joins the Evil Side of The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Up-and-coming British actor Toby Kebbell has joined the cast of the currently in-production film The Sorcerer's Apprentice for Disney. Kebbell will play a character named Drake Stone, a celebrity illusionist who joins forces with Alfred Molina's evil sorcerer, Horvath, to gain ultimate powers. As we already know, Nic Cage will star as the sorcerer Balthazar Blake and Jay Baruchel as his apprentice, in a story about a college student who is recruited to work reluctantly for said sorcerer and given a crash course in magic to help him battle dark forces in Manhattan. Jon Turteltaub is directing and Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

First Look: Russell Crowe as Ridley Scott's Robin Hood
This is definitely the time where we're getting a lot of first looks from Hollywood! Over on USA Today, they've debuted the first photo of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's version of Robin Hood. We've written plenty about this film for a while now, so I don't think there's much I need to say to introduce this photo, but thankfully producer Brian Grazer walks us through the new look anyway. "He doesn't have the old Robin Hood tights," Grazer says. "He's got armor. He's very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we're used to seeing with Robin Hood." Oh hell yes, bring it on!

Fox Atomic Shutting Down; Good News for 28 Months Later?
The latest studio to shut down is Fox Atomic, the teenager-focused division of 20th Century Fox that started in January of 2007. Their past filmography, or shall we say failures, includes Turistas, The Hills Have Eyes II, 28 Weeks Later, The Comebacks, and 12 Rounds. Variety first reported that Fox Atomic was likely to shut down today, then Nikki Finke later confirmed that they're definitely kicking the bucket. As sad as it is to see any company go under, I say good riddance, as Fox Atomic was one of those subsidiaries that was setup to create nothing but crap, although I'm sure they'll claim that it was targeted entertainment.

Paramount Adapting Image Comics' Lions, Tigers and Bears
Paramount has acquired rights to Lions, Tigers and Bears, a popular kids comic book series from Image Comics. Big time producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Shooter, Transformers, Stardust, G.I. Joe) will develop the live-action film, with with Joey Aucoin writing the script. Why would anyone want to see this? Check out the concept: This fantasy tale centers on a young boy whose stuffed animals come to life in middle of the night to protect him from a group of monsters called the Beasties and the further adventures of the boy as he travels through the stuffed-animal kingdom. It could even be pitched as Toy Story meets Monsters Inc.

First Look: Saoirse Ronan in Peter Jackson's Lovely Bones
One of the other (besides Avatar) highly anticipated December movies this year is Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, an adaptation of Alice Sebold's book of the same name. It stars Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, and a handful of other great actors. There's a bit of controversy surrounding the production because Ryan Gosling was originally cast in Wahlberg's role, but left due to creative differences. Later on in the year, production shut down when Peter Jackson and his art director disagreed on the way heaven should look, which is certainly an important part of the movie.

Check Out This Scene from Shane Acker's 9 Animated Movie
Although I certainly love Pixar, one other animated movie I'm really looking forward to seeing this year is Shane Acker's 9, the post-apocalyptic ragdoll movie that we debuted a great trailer for back in December. Since that trailer hit, not much else has been released publicly, although I did see an extended clip at WonderCon (but that was exclusively shown there). However, MTV has debuted a full clip from 9 today, and I'm breaking my own rules to bring this to you, mainly because I have such high hopes for it and I want to continue building some great buzz. If you're interested in this movie at all, then check it out below!

Zombieland Invades Hollywood, Leaves Behind Destruction
What would it look like if an army of zombies invaded and destroyed Hollywood? Director Ruben Fleischer has just put up two photos (on his official website) from the last day of shooting on Zombieland. "We finished up today with some serious LA landmarks - Grauman's Chinese Theater, Beverly Drive, and the 4th Street Bridge... From here there is a long summer of editing before me, which is daunting, but exciting, because I know the material we have is so strong." You've probably heard a few tidbits about the movie, which shot in Georgia for the last few months, but this is somewhat of our first real look at anything.
