First Look: Sharlto Copley in Neill Blomkamp's District 9

MNU Sreads Lies

Although we still have yet to see a trailer, Sony has released a first look photo from Neill Blomkamp's District 9 in the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly (via SlashFilm). We were only just shown the first glimpse of footage from Blomkamp's alien film at ShoWest a few weeks ago, so it's still a big secret. Seen in the photo below is the character Wikus (Sharlto Copley), a Multi-National United agent who becomes infected by alien biotechnology. He must go on the run from the oppressive government into District 9, a internment camp where "non-humans" have been forced to live since landing on Earth nearly 30 years ago.

Michael Bay's ShoWest Transformers 2 Presentation Footage!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Footage

Are you man enough to handle Bumblebee crying? Michael Bay has posted the entire ShoWest presentation he put together of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen footage, featuring a full 2-minute scene and a montage of clips with our first look at Devastator. As cheesy as that first scene was, or at least as funny as it was, I should say, the final minute of this presentation completely makes up for it. Damn this looks so good, and Bay was right about packing this sequel with a ton more robots this time! There are so many shown in this that I can't even count them all, it's hard to even spot them. Anyway, take a look and enjoy!

Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs the World Video Blog #2

Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs the World Video Blog #2

Edgar Wright has posted the second video blog live from the set of Scott Pilgrim vs the World. A week ego, Edgar debuted the first video blog looking at the stunt work and behind-the-scenes prep. This video covers the first day of principal photography on the set, including some shots of Michael Cera, Mark Webber, and most of the cast. We also get our first good look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers (since this photo ain't that great). Wright also explains that they're shooting Stephen Still's apartment and Wallace Wells' apartment first, since they're the background of the movie, so enjoy!

Must Watch: Fantastic Documentary Trailer for Facing Ali

Facing Ali Trailer

Wow, this certainly came out of nowhere! A fantastic new trailer for a documentary about legendary boxer Muhammad Ali called Facing Ali has debuted on Apple today. I actually saw this for the first time in theaters last night before Crank: High Voltage, and it looked incredible on the big screen. I, of course, knew about the Mike Tyson doc, but hadn't heard of this at all until last night, and was stunned. It looks pretty incredible, and I'd much rather watch this than anything about Tyson. I think Ali's life story is a bit more remarkable and this doc looks like it will be an unforgettable look at one of the greatest athletes ever.

Big New Hobbit Update Straight from Guillermo del Toro!

Guillermo del Toro - The Hobbit

In the upcoming 20th anniversary issue of Empire, the Brits have another big announcement to make, this time from Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson about the very highly anticipated The Hobbit. "We've decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur," del Toro reveals. It was originally announced in late 2006 that The Hobbit would become two movies, however the story contained within the book would be adapted solely into the first movie itself, and a "bridge" story to span the LOTR gap would be written specifically for the second movie.

Whoa, Michael Bay Wants to Direct a 'Small Movie' Next?

Michael Bay

Is that a joke? No, apparently not. When Paramount announced a date for Transformers 3, and Michael Bay fired back saying "not so fast, I need a year off," everyone thought he was just being an egotistical bastard. The truth of the matter is that he just wants to make a small movie, like Christopher Nolan or Steven Soderbergh. "I would like to take a year off," Bay recently told MTV. "I might do a small movie in-between [Transformers 2 and 3]." And what the heck would this movie be? "[It's based on] a true story, and it's very funny, it's a dark comedy." he reveals, adding that, "it's like a Pulp Fiction-type of movie."

First Official Behind-the-Scenes Photo from Tintin

First Official Behind-the-Scenes Photo from Tintin

Just like James Cameron's Avatar, the powers that be have tricked us yet again with the very first photo from The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. Revealed on Empire this morning, the photo is another simple behind-the-scenes shot of Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis in their motion capture outfits with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson standing by. As a reminder (and if you couldn't tell by reading the names on their outfits), Bell plays Tintin, Serkis plays Captain Haddock, and they're joined by Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Tony Curran, and a few others. Click on the photo below for more from Empire.

John Woo Directing a Romeo and Juliet War Epic Next?

John Woo

Wait a minute, we haven't even see Red Cliff yet! Chinese director John Woo has left Hollywood and moved back to Beijing, but that isn't stopping him from making more big budget films. He finished his two part war epic Red Cliff, which hasn't even been seen in America yet, and is already talking about what's next. Woo spoke with Empire and revealed his early plans for another Chinese-language war epic that will actually be more of a romance. "It's like a Romeo and Juliet love story," Woo said, "a love story, but with war scenes." And as for his other project called 1949, "I had to pass," due to rights issues, he says.

Official 500 Days of Summer Poster - How Many Zooey's?

Official 500 Days of Summer Poster

This post modern love story is never what we expect it to be -- it's thorny yet exhilarating, funny and sad, a twisted journey of highs and lows that doesn't quite go where we think it will. Fox Searchlight has debuted a high res version of the 500 Days of Summer poster that fans (including you) helped choose. I wish it were already July, because I can't wait to see this again! It's such a phenomenal film and I'm certain it will become everyone's favorite when it hits theaters. This is actually my favorite poster from the batch and I'm glad to see it was chosen. I'm thinking there are actually 500 photos of Zooey Deschanel on here.

First Look: Pixar's New Short Film Partly Cloudy!

First Look: Pixar's New Short Film Partly Cloudy!

Attached to Pixar's Up this summer is their newest short film Partly Cloudy, directed by Peter Sohn, a Pixar animator and the voice of Emile in Ratatouille. Ain't It Cool News has debuted the first official photo from the short today and it looks as wonderful as any Pixar film. Everyone knows that the stork delivers babies, but where do the storks get the babies from? The answer lies up in the stratosphere, where cloud people sculpt babies from clouds and bring them to life. Partly Cloudy is about Gus, a lonely and insecure grey cloud, who is a master at creating "dangerous" babies like crocodiles, porcupines, and rams...

Universal's Bruno Gets an R Rating from the MPAA

Bruno - Rated R

We last reported that the outrageous and soon-to-be controversial comedy Bruno had received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA on its first pass. Of course, Universal was going to edit the film and submit it again, so that news wasn't a statement that they would try to release it as is. On the other hand, we mentioned it as a way of saying that Bruno would indeed be as completely crazy as we're all hoping. Universal has confirmed as of yesterday that Bruno now has an official R rating this time around, for "pervasive strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity and language." Sounds like we're in for some more blurred body parts.
