Michel Gondry Talks Green Hornet, But Doesn't Say Much
Ever since we first reported that Michel Gondry was directing Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet, we haven't actually heard from Gondry himself. The only updates we've posted since then have been about Gondry, even though they've actually come from Rogen, in a funky game of telephone. So this is the first time anyone has spoken with Gondry since he got the job. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much to say, since it's still just coming together. "Seth and Evan, they are the writers, but they really listen to my ideas on the movie. I think the story is getting much better and better and I feel like I'm really a part of the process."

Gentlemen Broncos Widget Starring Dr. Ronald Chevalier
It seems like the only worthwhile updates this week have been about viral marketing, but maybe it's just the calm before the storm. One film we haven't heard from in a while is Gentlemen Broncos, the latest comedy from Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess. However, thanks to an update on Wired, we may have something that will hold us over until we get to see a trailer. Found on the official website for the film's main character Dr. Ronald Chevalier, played by "Flight of the Conchords" star Jemaine Clement, is an Aphoristic Fruit of the Day Widget, where the "Oracle" gives an ounce of wisdom every day.

McG Bringing Broadway's Spring Awakening to Theaters?
McG really is a jack of all trades, isn't he? As announced via Hollywood Reporter tonight, the filmmaker is set to bring the Broadway rock musical Spring Awakening to the big screen, developing it with original book and lyrics writer Steven Sater. Set in 19th-century Germany, the coming-of-age story follows a group of teens discovering their sexuality and dealing with topics like masturbation, abortion, rape and suicide. Yes, this is the very same production that McG wants to the bring to the big screen. He may even make it without a studio at first, "in order to make a more intimate, or indeed an edgier, movie version." Is this a big hoax?

Check This Out: J.J. Abrams' Slusho Enterprise Revealed!
One of the many off-the-wall marketing ideas that Paramount came up with for the new Star Trek was to have various artists paint models of the USS Enterprise in whatever quirky style they wanted. I've seen these models in movie theaters in Los Angeles, on display at ShoWest, and everywhere else Star Trek has been marketing, but Paramount has only now launched a full gallery of all of the models online right here. One of the ships hidden in the gallery is painted with the Slusho logo (listed as Enterprise #12 in the gallery), as done by Amy Vatanakul, an "artist and animator working at Bad Robot Productions." Check it out!

Mark Wahlberg, James Franco to Crash Tina Fey's Date Night
It looks like Tina Fey is bringing the whole family together for her comedy Date Night. Mark Wahlberg and James Franco are the latest two to join, and will star alongside of Steve Carell, Common, Taraji Henson, Leighton Meester, and Kristen Wiig. So what is this ensemble comedy about? The script written, by Josh Klausner, follows a couple whose routine night out turns into much more than dinner and a movie when they are mistaken for somebody else. Wahlberg will play a man working in private security, who deals with black ops and offers to help the couple, while Franco will play a dim con man and petty criminal.

Skynet's Distributed Computing Platform - Download This!
The on-going Skynet Research viral for Terminator Salvation has been expanding every day, but so far nothing big has happened. Sure, a few weeks ago a Resist Or Be Terminated website was discovered, and they've been trying to take down everything Skynet-related since, including the security cameras. But when is Skynet going to take over the world and bring about Judgment Day? Well, a reader named "Deck Films" sent me an e-mail today with a link to a website with a download for Skynet's Distributed Computing Platform - a downloadable application that links in with every other DCP computer around the world.

Tron 2 Budget Update - No Where Near $300 Million
No one really wants a $300 million budget, do they? Last week we wrote about how the budget for Disney's Tron 2 was being reported by the Vancouver Sun as being upwards of $300 million. In the article, I joked about getting "an update from Disney by the end of the day." Well, an update has arrived (via SlashFilm) and it looks like the budget is nowhere near $300 million. While it's company policy not to release actual amounts, Disney says the number is not anywhere close to that amount, not even in Canadian dollars. Good news? Who knows. For technical reasons, I was actually excited that it was going to cost a whole lot.

More Explosive First Looks Photo from The Expendables
"Today I was attacked by Jason Statham firing a machine gun from a dive-bombing fighter plane, nearly burned alive by napalm and had to leap into the freezing Bay of Mangaratiba to save my ass. And how was your day???" Last week we featured the first batch of real photos from the set of Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables. Today we have a few more official photos from the film's unofficial-looking blog located at ethelmae.wordpress.com. Seen below in the first photo are Eric Roberts and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin jumping away from a giant explosion. Below that is our first look at Sly and Jason Statham not in action.

Five Great X-Men Origins: Wolverine Character Profiles
In three more weeks, the summer movie season will finally kick off with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which still has quite a bit of buzz, despite being leaked online. MTV has debuted five individual character profiles - 30-second video intros to five of the main characters we'll see in the movie. Just in case you didn't know who Wolverine or Sabretooth were (I really hope that's no one), these videos will provide you with a very quick introduction. In addition to those two, there are profiles on Gambit (played by Taylor Kitsch), Deadpool aka Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds), and Wraith (played by Will.i.am). Enjoy!

Gorgeous Hand-Drawn Poster for The Brothers Bloom
Our friend Rian Johnson has finally posted a good version of the gorgeous hand-drawn poster for The Brothers Bloom. I first saw this when I caught the film at the New Beverly in Los Angeles (for my third time, mind you) and Rian had put it up in the poster boxes outside of the cinema. Unfortunately it's not an official poster, but it damn well should be! I'm quite interested to see what Summit ended up choosing if this isn't the official poster, because this is truly beautiful. It was drawn by Rian's cousin Zach (visit his site here) and can be downloaded on the official website if you're interested in printing this out yourself.

Adam Shankman Interested in Making Hairspray 2 in 3-D?
Our last update on Hairspray 2 was in January, from director Adam Shankman, who explained John Waters' had written a crazy script treatment that they were going to borrow ideas from. Thanks to Collider we have a new update from Shankman, but unfortunately (for those who are actually excited for this sequel), it doesn't seem to have moved too far along. "There are some really funny ideas, [but] we don't have a writer for it yet." New Line was hoping to have Hairspray 2 ready for release in July of 2010, but they probably won't make that date. However, the most interesting news is that Hairspray 2 may end up in 3-D.

William Hurt the Latest to Join Ridley Scott's Robin Hood
Last month we released a nearly full cast list for Ridley Scott's upcoming film, Robin Hood. And if you thought this already star-studded cast couldn't get any better, well, enter William Hurt. who's been tapped to play William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke. The Oscar-winning actor is to portray one of the most powerful men in Europe and, historically, one of the best jousters of the era. As if Russell Crowe re-teaming with Scott in the dual role of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian wasn't enough, Hurt really pushes this whole project into the realm of juggernauts. Everyone excited?
