Watchmen Writer Alex Tse Set to Adapt Battling Boy
Alex Tse, co-writer of the twenty-five-years-in-the-making adaption of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's graphic novel Watchmen, has been pegged to adapt yet another graphic novel, Battling Boy, as announced by THR today. Battling Boy, from Eisner-award winner Paul Pope, has none of the tumultuous baggage attached to it that Watchmen did and, in fact, hasn't even had time to garner any kind of following as the comic has yet to even be released. Last year we reported on Paramount's option of Battling Boy, then set for a 2010 release, but it seems that the comic's release has been expedited to the spring of this year.

Frank Marshall Says Bourne 4 Will Hit in Summer of 2011
So it looks like Twitter really is becoming a good resource for updates. Producer Frank Marshall wrote a few updates on his Twitter (twitter.com/LeDoctor) recently related to Bourne 4, the in-development fourth sequel in the Jason Bourne series. "Bourne 4 is in the works for Summer 2011," Marshall wrote. He later added in another update that "George Nolfi is the writer of Bourne 4, [and he] should have a draft by June," mentioning that, "it really takes long to get these scripts right!" Of course! And especially on something like this, I'm more than happy that Marshall is taking as much time as he needs and not rushing into it.

Great New Promo Spot for Ron Howard's Angels and Demons
One summer movie that I'm actually very excited for is Angels & Demons, the Da Vinci Code prequel from Ron Howard starring Tom Hanks. We were shown a lengthy promo reel at ShoWest and it looked fantastic, instantly moving up on my list of most anticipated summer releases. A new promo TV spot for Angels & Demons has aired that gives us a better glimpse at how thrilling this will be, although it doesn't have all the same footage I saw that made me so excited. But I will say that even if you hated The Da Vinci Code, give this a chance, because I have a feeling it may be the Dan Brown adaptation we always wanted.

This is Not Your Father's Star Trek - Another New TV Spot
Another new TV spot for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has aired. Considering we've seen plenty of TV spots already (and even had reviews of the entire movie), I wouldn't have normally posted this if it weren't for the hilariously awesome tagline in this one - "This is not your father's Star Trek." Take that all you old school Trekkies! There are only a few more weeks left until this comes out, so this is probably the last TV spot we'll be featuring, since I don't want to get oversaturated with last minute footage. I think it's best to save the experience of seeing this new Star Trek in its entirety in theaters (including IMAX, don't forget). Enjoy!

Check This Out: Teaster Poster for Mike Judge's Extract
The marketing gurus at Miramax are trying very hard to make Mike Judge a comedy icon like he used to be and get his newest film Extract into the spotlight. As we all know, Judge got screwed over by Fox during Idiocracy, and Miramax is trying to clean up that mess. Last week we got to see the teaser trailer and now today, courtesy of HitFix, we have the first teaser poster. It kind of reminds me of a poster for a Judd Apatow film, but they put their own spin on this one. I like where they're going with this, and the tagline at the bottom is great, but I'm wondering if this poster is actually going to attract enough positive attention.

Elisabeth Shue Joins the Cast of Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D?
Uh oh, this is starting to sound like Anaconda all over again. Moviehole claims to have confirmed that Elisabeth Shue is in final negotiations to join Piranha 3-D, the upcoming horror project from Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors director Alexandre Aja. Shue will play the role of Sheriff Julie Forester, an authority figure in the town of Lake Victoria, where all the action takes place. She is also the mother of Jake, one of the central teenage characters in the film. Piranha 3-D was originally supposed to be out this summer, but got delayed by The Weinstein Company. They're now preparing to shoot and then release it next year.

New Batch of Concept Art from McG's Terminator Salvation
How about a bit of post-apocalyptic concept art to kick off your Easter Sunday? A fresh new batch of concept art from Terminator Salvation was discovered on the Sarah Connor Society blog (via SlashFilm) this weekend. The paintings were done by ILM artist Christian Alzmann and visual effects art director Warren Fu and look absolutely stunning, especially when viewed full-size. Given we've already seen plenty of imagery from McG's Terminator Salvation in the trailers that differs from most of this art, it's still pretty damn cool to get an idea of how it was all imagined in the first place. Check out this new art and enjoy!

Promo Trailer for Kaare Andrews' Altitude Has Landed - Updated
It was only three days ago that I featured a poster for a film called Altitude from first-time director Kaare Andrews. I wasn't expecting to hear about it again for a while, as I had thought it had just started shooting. Well, apparently a promo trailer has already been cut and released, and we have it for you right now. As a reminder, Altitude is about a rookie pilot and a group of friends who decide to take a small plane to a concert. When she encounters a storm, things go wrong and they're stuck climbing out of control, but then something else shows up. I don't think I need to say much more than that, so fire this trailer up now.

Rob Zombie Releases the First Photo of H2's Michael Myers
We've been somewhat neglecting all the recent H2: Halloween 2 news (they've been flying press to the set in Georgia recently) and that might because I just don't give a crap. I saw Rob Zombie's reboot in 2007 and I didn't enjoy it that much, or at least not enough to care about a sequel to what I thought was a lackluster reboot. But to keep the fans interested, and keep up to date on this year's movies, I'm posting the first photo that Rob Zombie released on his MySpace today. Word from the set is that this Michael Myers in H2 might not wear a mask for most of the movie, but this is what it will look like when he does have one on.

Wait a Minute, There's a Big Viral Game for Star Trek, Too?
I'm a big viral nut, and I usually stay on top of every last viral, even weird YouTube videos like this one. However, for J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek, the only viral marketing I've seen has been in relation to the wild hipster dance parties that Paramount has been putting on (go here for more details). I didn't think much about them, they sounded super cheesy, and hipsters suck, so I forgot about it. But apparently someone noticed something interesting in a few photos - there are URLs hidden in the background. After an extensive amount of research on TrekMovie, it looks like they may have figured it all out a bit early.

First Look: Badass Photos from Dolph Lundgren's Icarus
Even at 51 years old, former Frank Castle and Swedish martial arts actor Dolph Lundgren is still going strong, still making movies. Although he's set to appear in Stallone's Expendables, Lundgren is finishing work on a project called Icarus first, a film that he not only stars in but is also directing. Sure, this could probably be categorized as a B-movie, but considering we haven't really seen Lundgren in a big action movie in, well, quite a long time, it's great (or maybe it's not) to see him showing up in the news yet again. The plot is pretty bland and unoriginal, but these photos (via Quiet Earth) actually look pretty damn cool.

Intense Promo Trailer for Nicolas Refn's Valhalla Rising
Given that it's a holiday weekend, the only good news worth writing about comes from outside of the country. Today we have a trailer (via Quiet Earth) for Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn's latest film called Valhalla Rising. It stars Mads Mikkelsen as a one-eyed Viking warrior who escapes his tribal captor and flees to a strange new land. It kind of reminds me of The 13th Warrior and/or Pathfinder. Considering Refn is a highly praised director, this should actually be pretty good. Apologies for the low quality, as it's all that is available. It's hard to tell what's going on in this, but it still looks promising.
