Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick May Work Together Again?!

Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick

Now this is great news! Those of you who were privileged enough to catch Coraline earlier this year know how amazing that collaboration turned out. But wouldn't it be great to see world renowned writer Neil Gaiman work with genius stop-animation filmmaker Henry Selick again one day? It may actually happen. Total Film caught up with Selick recently and asked him about the possibility. "We're actually talking about it definitely," he said. "We want to work together again, but I'd rather not say right now because there are so many - several - titles under discussion." Several titles?! Whatever could they be?

Since he's being tight lipped about the projects, we'll just have to wait until something develops. In the meantime, Selick actually had some great things to say about their collaboration on Coraline. "It was a nice surprise and I felt like he was a brother, like my original friendship with Tim Burton. He felt like someone from the same planet as me, maybe different neighbourhood - he wears more black than me - but it was a nice script." And as for what Gaiman might be cooking up? "I'm always interested in the next thing he's going to write," he says. "It was a great collaboration, really an artistically enhancing experience."

I absolutely loved Coraline and I'm sad that I don't have the chance to see it again in 3-D. It was one of the few films I've ever seen that was spectacular in 3-D, but only in theaters. Alas, I'll definitely be picking it up on DVD, but the experience won't be the same. I don't even want to start to guess what Gaiman and Selick could collaborate on this time, but I doubt it's Sandman - that just has to be live-action. Any ideas?

I'm with CJ on this one. I'm betting on Wolves in the Walls too. But The Graveyard Book could be too, that'd be great with stop-motion.

@Vole : Actually, "The Graveyard Book" will be adapted as a live-action film by Neil Jordan ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001403/ )

It'd be awesome if they were to collaborate for a Sandman movie, with live action and claymotion combined. Dunno what the claymotion would be for, but I just love what they did with Coraline, haha.

I'd love see a another project from their collaboration Coraline was adapted well and was truly amazing visually. I think Wolves in the Walls would be a good pick, as mentioned above. I wouldn't mind seeing Neverwhere in stop motion considering all the craziness of that novel it'd be great visually.

I dont see how Wolves in the Walls could be made into a 90 minute movie. I mean, its basically. wolves come out and scare off people, then people go in the walls and come out and scare away wolves.

I could also see how Anansi boys could be made into a children's book with out much fuss.
