Benicio Del Toro's Wolf Man Movie Adding More Action?

If Universal hadn't moved The Wolf Man, we would've all have seen it by now. Late last year, Universal announced that Joe Johnston's remake of the classic Wolf Man starring Benicio Del Toro was being moved from April 3rd to November 6th. We thought it was simply a strategic move in order to better feature what looked like a great movie so far, but apparently there might be more to the story. Dark Horizons has received a report from a reader who was in attendance at a British Film Institute event this past weekend, where stuntman Vic Armstrong let slip that he was working on a new scene from The Wolf Man.
"He was mostly talking his work with the Bond franchise but he mentioned he'd just come from the set of The Wolf Man at Pinewood Studios shooting some new action scene that was being added to the film." He goes on to say that Armstrong described the scene as a "fight scene between two werewolves involving a fair amount of CG with them going up the walls and other bits of business, and that they had to marry it up to scenes shot earlier." This is the first time I've heard of this, and it's quite interesting to hear. Why would they want to add more? Last we heard (and saw), it looked good, it's not as if they were being criticized.
Brendon over at SlashFilm claims there are plenty more productions problems than I'm not familiar with, related to the budget and Rick Baker's practical werewolf effects. At Comic-Con last year, Universal showed an early trailer for Wolf Man with a lot of unfinished effects. But even in July of last year, it still looked great, and it didn't seem like it was in need of any extra action. Although this was a different studio, the reported "re-shoots" for Wolverine added a lot of the action at the beginning (with Deadpool), and that was the best part. So maybe this is a good thing? Whatever the case, I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

I don't think a Wolf Man remake needs crazy action and explosions and running up walls and backflips and all that stuff. It needs a good story like the original and it needs to be freaky and scary. And just the fact that there are two werewolves makes me uneasy.

Wow…I was waiting for some info on this movie. All there's been is that shot. I thought it was just another rumor or movie waiting to be moved to next year.

Any word on when they plan on releasing a teaser or theatrical trailer for this? I mean this should start getting some hype to it before it gets released straight to DVD just like Trick'r Treat is being done.

I sincerely hope that the makers of this movie will refrain from using too much fancy CGI stuff. I have never seen CGI work out while trying to create a truly eerie and frightening atmosphere when it comes to werewolves or other old-school monster-stuff. Quite the contrary, it kills the atmosphere. I cannot see why "crazy action" would attract more audience than scare it off. Maybe doing it the "old-fashiond way" would even create more interest if the merchandise is prepared accordingly. So please, do not disappoint us with soul-free CGI genre "Van Helsing"

They're filming a load of action scenes this weekend at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich (London), I saw it all being set up today!

This afternoon I walked along the Thames around the back of the Royal Naval College at Greenwich. There was filming going on, and a notice posted on a tree by 'Wolfman Productions' was apologising for any disturbance to visitors while they filmed night scenes. Further along was a trailer with a notice posted on it which said, 'Vic Armstrong, Director'.
