Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official trailer for Woody Allen's latest comedy Whatever Works starring Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood. This isn't the best trailer (SPC has a reputation of bad trailers), but it is at least an honest look at the latest Manhattan-set story from the mind of Woody Allen. I had the opportunity to see this a month ago and loved it (you can read my reaction here). It's everything you'd expected from a Woody Allen movie, but with Larry David, it's even kookier than I imagined it ever could be. Even if you're not normally a Woody Allen fan, this is one movie you might just fall in love with!

Whatever Works is both written and directed by the currently 73-year-old legendary filmmaker Woody Allen, who began is illustrious career in 1966 with What's Up, Tiger Lily?, later won Oscars for Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters, and has continued strong until today. This is Allen's 42nd feature film, following Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Cassandra's Dream, Scoop, and Match Point from the past few years. Sony Pictures Classics is bringing Whatever Works to limited theaters starting on June 19th this summer.

Alex, my good friend.
I am glad you saw the film and can vouch for it. I love Woody Allen films but this trailer KILLS the desire to see it. SPC drains the life and quirkyness by trying to come across as mainstream.

I'm glad Woody is out of London finally, but this looks like the regular, subpar Woody Allen movie of the last 10 years.
I like Larry David because he's as neurotic as Woody, but that's good on Curb. Not in a movie. I had to see a couple of episodes of Curb to finally buy Cheryl Hines being his wife. They can't sell me in an hour and a half.
Actors I like, but sum and the total of the parts or whatever that phrase is.

Yea, I agree with most of this… I'm a huge Woody Allen fan and a huge Larry David fan. Separately though. On paper you would think something like this would work — Larry David playing Woody Allen, but at this rate, I would have much rather just seen Woody play himself.
Like Woody's, Larry's humor is self-deprecating and neurotic but in a different way. It doesn't quite translate over to Larry David.
We'll see… still love them both though.

Woody Allen has always had pretty good films. I am very eager to see what kind of direction he takes with this film.
