Antonio Banderas Set to Star in Tony Krantz' The Big Bang

Not to be confused with the sitcom "The Big Bang Theory", the indie project The Big Bang has found its leading man - Antonio Banderas. Banderas will star as an LA private detective who's hired to find a missing stripper. The trail leads to the New Mexico desert, where he finds a trail of bodies and contends with a brutal Russian boxer, three LAPD detectives and an aging billionaire looking to perfect the nuclear physics equivalent of the Big Bang. Whoa that sounds nuts! The script was written by Erik Jendresen ("Band of Brothers", Otis). Former Hollywood agent Tony Krantz will be making his directorial debut with this.
The Big Bang is described as "a two-fisted postmodern film noir detective story." It kind of sounds like Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Guy Ritchie's Snatch, with an ensemble and eclectic mix of characters that are found along the trail that Banderas is following. It's great to see Banderas getting back into some feature films (that aren't Shrek related). He also appears in Woody Allen's newest ensemble film set in London as well as Simon West's biopic on Salvador Dali. Out of all of Banderas' upcoming projects, this is probably the one I'm looking forward to the most. I'll let you know if we hear anything more at all.

Uh, I saw this film already… it's called Yesterday Was A Lie. Seriously, are there no new ideas in Hollywood? Do you people just rip off EVERYTHING?
