Superstar Ensemble Cast for Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day

Now this is one hell of a cast! Producer, writer, actor, and director Garry Marshall has called in all of his friends for Valentine's Day, the latest romantic comedy that New Line is developing. Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper and Ashton Kutcher are in final negotiations to star in the movie, which has five slightly interconnecting stories playing out during a Valentine's Day in Los Angeles. There are still five more major roles that haven't been cast yet, either! New Line is developing this as a "more ambitious in scope and cast" mid-$30 million production.
I was going to say this on my own, but it was mentioned in the THR article anyway - it sounds like New Line wants this to be their version of Love, Actually, but set in Los Angeles during Valentine's Day instead. Nothing wrong with that. The screenplay for this was originally written by Katherine Fugate ("Army Wives"), then revised by writing partners Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein (Never Been Kissed, He's Just Not That Into You). It's a hell of a cast indeed, but will they butt heads or actually pull off a good romantic comedy together? I'll probably wait to see a trailer for this before mentioning it anytime soon. Thoughts?

It can only be better - Love Actually sucked. Loose ends, bad editing choices, holes in the plot. What a waste of good talent.

Yeah, "Love Actually" was not very good. Not terrible. But wayyyyy too schmaltzy. I went into a sugar coma it was so sweet. But Garry Marshall is a HORRIBLE director. As are his movies.

I need to disagree with Film Fan and CatieLee. Love, Actually was a fantastic rom com. It had a great cast and it had natural heart. Nothing was forced and I liked the way that it explored the many aspects of the theme.
Talk about schmaltzy….Garry Marshall is the king of it.

Nothing was forced in "Love Actually"!? Please! Hey, I enjoyed it, but come on. The whole thing is forced in your face and down your throat. And there's nothing wrong with that. But let's get real here. And yes, Garry Marshall's movie are mostly bad. But good for a rental or HBO. Nothing more.
