Check These Out: Great New Inglourious Basterds Photos

There is nothing that I am more excited to see right now than Inglourious Basterds, but that may be because I'm at Cannes and I get to see it in less than a week. I'm also trying not to even think about it, to keep my expectations in check, so I can go in and be blown away. I was trying not to post much from it (besides new posters), but then these new photos hit on CineMovies (via The Playlist) and I couldn't help it - they all look great. I'm a sucker for great photographer, and not only are these photos just that, but they feature some more of the obscure characters from Quentin Tarantino's film that we haven't seen yet.

Daniel Brühl as Frederick Zoller

Mélanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus

Til Schweiger as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz

Michael Fassbender as Lt. Archie Hicox

A Scene from Inglourious Basterds

During World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "the Basterds" are chosen to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a young French girl named Shosanna who runs a movie theater in Paris that is frequented by soldiers.
Inglourious Basterds is both written and directed by the infamous Quentin Tarantino, of everything from Reservoir Dogs to Pulp Fiction to Kill Bill to Death Proof previously. The Weinstein Company and Universal have partnered to bring us Tarantino's WWII masterpiece in all of its brilliant glory. After first debuting at the Cannes Film Festival, Inglourious Basterds will now hit theaters worldwide on August 21st this year.

Alex,
I wouldn't go in expecting this to be non-stop, gory, action, or "Kill Bill Vol 1" with guns if I were you (judging by what your movie tastes appear to be, and how excited you are, I'm guessing you're expecting something along those lines… I could be wrong though). Also, that seems to be the way they are (innaccurately) promoting the film. I read the screenplay and, unless they change a ton of it, it's not going to be anything along those lines, but if it is as great to watch as it was to read you SHOULDbe "blown away"…… that is, if you are an admirer of his '90s work, as I very much am.

Til Schweiger sucks…but you have to put him in the film if you want some German cash to finance this movie.

13, i think you and 9 are both right…in a way. I read the screenplay as well, and see it as a mix of both. There are moments of dialog heavy(only) scenes, yet at the same time there are parts that make me think Tim Roth circa Reservoir Dogs, although that isnt really action….more or less violence. In either case, expect a hell of a good film.

I read the script too and I have to agree. Mostly cause I don't like movies with subtitles especially when you see the trailer it only shows the parts with english. However, I did think that the script was pretty descent, But that's how Tarintino's movies are, there are scenes with long heavy dialogue and then there are scenes that are the opposite. Plus I only liked the scenes with Brad Pitt and his Basterds are in cause those were the only entertaining parts of the script for me at least.

I have a bad feeling that Tarantino fucked this up somehow…Nothing about it yet seems right, or even points to it being a great film. I dont think it will hold up to his other films, and will not be the "masterpiece" he wanted.

Can anyone explain to me what they are excited about exactly? These photos are simple head shots. And as for the two that show the sets, they look cheap (especially the last).
I'm not saying that this will suck. I'm just saying that I still haven't seen anything (including the above photos and the trailer) to convince me that this will be a great movie.
