Jackman, Weisz, Pattinson to Star in Unbound Captives
May 13, 2009
by Alex Billington
This already sounds like a film I won't want to see, but the cast makes up for it. Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson will star together in a period drama called Unbound Captives. The film is to be directed by Madeleine Stowe and will be her directorial debut. She wrote the script with her husband Brian Benben back in the early 90s, but declined a $5 million offer because originally she wanted to star in it. However, she eventually realized that would never be possible, cast Weisz in her role instead, and decided to direct the film. Hyde Park Entertainment will produce; production will start at the end of the year.
Weisz will now play a woman whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859. She is later rescued by a frontiersman, to be played by Jackman. Pattinson will play the son. Helping Stowe make sure the film looks wonderful will be cinematographer John Toll, of everything from Braveheart to The Thin Red Line to The Last Samurai to Tropic Thunder. It doesn't sound like a bad production, and it has a great cast, a great director of photography, and a fairly interesting story, so maybe I will follow it after all. And no, I'm not commenting on Wolverine and Edward Cullen being together.

Sounds all right. Weisz and Jackman together again is interesting, a bit of a The Fountain reunion. Why wouldn't you want to see this? Cause it's a period drama.

It's sounds pretty much interesting and the names involved make it even more appealing. I refer of course to the great Hugh Jackman, the oscar winning Rachel Weisz and John Toll. I'm not so sure about Pattinson's acting skills but he at least will bring young audiences to the theaters, considering his appeal after Twilight.

Both Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman are my favorite actors but very iffy on Rob Pattinson.

Not bad at all! This has HIT potential! All in all, it's great to see Madeleine Stowe back in the spotlight! In addition, Brian Benben's name will be shed a light too! I still remember the kick ass HBO series, "Dream On" in the early 90s that he starred in, as well as, the Dolph Lundgren flick, "I Come In Peace" from 1990.

Hasn't this story been done dozens of times, most recently Cate Blanchett in The Missing?
