Abel Ferrara Readying Another Jekyll and Hyde Movie?
May 14, 2009
by Alex Billington
You've got to be kidding me? Of course, this happens all the time in Hollywood, but still, why this story? Bad Lieutenant director Abel Ferrara is also adapting Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Forest Whitaker and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson already set to star. Just last week we announced that Keanu Reeves was set to star in Universal's re-imagining of the same story, with Nicolas Winding Refn set to direct. These two projects will be competing against each other, as Glasshouse Pictures and Cheetah Vision Films are already prepared to start shooting this one later this summer.
"The combination of such formidable talent in front of and behind the camera will turn this wonderful gothic story into a modern classic for a whole new generation," said producer Luc Roeg. I hate to break it to you Mr. Roeg, but 50 Cent is not "formidable talent" and your version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is not going to stand up to the Universal version. I don't care if the budget for this is even bigger, or if they have a better director, it won't be a project I care about at all, sorry. I think we all thought it couldn't get any worse than the Keanu Reeves version, but this just proves that it can get worse much more easily than we think.

Every movie that has 50 cent on it is doomed to be ultra failure.

This is such blah news that I don't even know what to say.
The thing that gets me though is that the Jekyll/Hyde story is a great one. It'd be nice to see a decent effort put in if somone (or multiple others) decide to remake it.

Ok checklist for when you go watch this movie
1- prepare for bad acting
2- prepare for horrifyingly bad acting
3- bullet proof vest
4- number for a cab ( especially if you have a nice car with rims)
5- map with all exits of theater
that is a good start also buy your ticket online, i would not take my wallet if i were you

#8 Splinter so just because the potential lead actors are black your first thought is that when going to the theater some black person is gonna rob you? Guy grow the fuck up, as bad an idea this movie is bringing your racist BS to the table isn't needed.
Did you not bring your wallet to go see the Bucket list, Man on Fire, I am Legend, Ironman, Wolverine or any other movie that had black actors in it.

I think this would end up being a great movie. I have always enjoyed the Jekyl and Hyde theme and think that these actors would do a great job with the script. Remakes are not usually as good as the original, but I think this one has some potential.
