Mickey Rourke Joins Larry Clark's Remake of Mona Lisa

Mickey Rourke as Mona Lisa? No, that's not right. Mickey Rourke in Mona Lisa - that sounds a bit better. Rourke has signed on to star in a remake of the classic 1980s British gangster flick Mona Lisa. He'll play an ex-con who takes a job as a chauffeur for a high-class escort. Eva Green is in early negotiations to star opposite Rourke. Larry Clark, of Kids, Bully, Wassup Rockers, is writing and directing the remake, which is being produced by Handmade Films. Shooting is set to start in New York in July. This is yet another one of the many projects that Rourke has lined up following all the acclaim he received in The Wrestler.
The original Mona Lisa starred Bob Hoskins and Cathy Tyson and was directed by Neil Jordan. Nothing against Rourke, we all know when given the right roles he can do a great job, but I'm worried he's becoming the next Jason Statham, just being thrown into every con/hit-man movie that needs an older, rugged, roughed up lead (that's not too expensive). Rourke is currently shooting The Expendables, then will move on to Iron Man 2, and is set to appear in the 13 Tzameti remake as well as Vidhu Vinod Chopra's gangster film Broken Horses. I really hope all of these have unique and different characters for Rourke to play.

i like larry clark and what he does direct but as a skateboarder i honestly didnt like wassup rockers but i think thats because to many stereotypes were put into that movie.Maybe its because i skate that i didnt like it and maybe people who dont skate actually liked it for its "real-ness" but thats just me.
Kind of like anyone who saw Paranoid Park and loved it,it wasnt because of skating but because it was a drama,but the whole time i was laughing cause Paranoid park is just burnside and its really not like how its portrayed,but im being dumb.
however this does sound awesome. anything with eva green is good so hopefully she is a part of this and mickey rourke is amazing too so it should be a good re-make.

I had no idea Rourke was going to be in The Expendables and I follow this site pretty closely. I think it's because in the synopsis you use on each post you don't have him listed as one of the actors. I think he's a pretty important person to include if you want to garner buzz for the flick.
"The Expendables is about a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, and Charisma Carpenter. Stallone both wrote and is directing the film. The film is still in the middle of shooting. You can follow updates on its progress over on the official blog. We'll let you know when we see more from The Expendables, whether it be new photos, new footage, or a new poster (perhaps?) sometime soon. Either way, this should be an exciting production to follow all the way to its finish."

Also, since Iron Man 2 has been shooting for awhile now and Rourke isn't on set yet I'm guessing he'll have a much smaller role then I expected. That's a shame but I'm sure Rockwell can carry the role of an antagonist pretty well too.

Rourke rocked after The Wrestler i liked him before the movie but that one was outstanding, i wish he keeps the good stuff up and end screwing up his carry by judging what good movies should be on his agenda and what's not.

Bob Hoskins stars as George, and as we first see him, he is lulling along a dismal Cleveland apartment neighborhood with a plastic bag and a fistful of flowers. As he reaches his destination, the audience soon realizes what a heartbroken journey this man's life has been. Indeed his good intentions at seeing his wife and daughter are mired by the wife's stubborn, yet understandable reaction of slamming the door in her ex-convict husband's face.
