Jacques Audiard's Un Prophete

One of my favorite films of Cannes finally has a teaser trailer. Jacques Audiard's latest feature, Un Prophete, debuted last week at the festival to nothing but heaps of praise. I absolutely loved it and gave it a 9 out of 10 in my own review. Thanks to our friends at Quiet Earth, we have the first teaser trailer for Un Prophete today. This gives everyone who is not at Cannes a first look at Tahar Rahim as El Djebena, Niels Arestrup as César, and the amazing score from Alexandre Desplat. There isn't a more perfect teaser than this and I hope some of you watch this teaser, and only this teaser, before actually seeing the film itself.

Watch the teaser trailer for Jacques Audiard's Un Prophete:

A young Arab man named Malik El Djebena is sent to a French prison where he becomes a mafia kingpin.

Un Prophete, aka A Prophet in English, is directed by French filmmaker Jacques Audiard, of See How They Fall, A Self-Made Hero, Read My Lips, and The Beat That My Heart Skipped previously. The screenplay was originally written by Abdel Raouf Dafri and Nicolas Peufaillit, then later revised by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain. The film just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and will likely be picked up for US distribution soon, considering the numerous positive reviews it has received. Stay tuned for any updates!

Seems cool I guess. If it got so much praise it must be great

Don't know why it reminds me of hunger, in some ways. However, i am pretty sure it has an interesting storyline. I am pretty curious about the title of the film.

There's not really enough footage to make a judgment either way.

The film is a hard hitting which keeps you gripped and awaiting the clever plot involving Brooklyn singles, it doesn't not disappoint and the way in which the plot unfolds is clever as well as realistic. The actors do a very good job and the main actor is especially good, the white mob boss is also a superb actor.

It does sound like a decent story line. The trailer was also very good.
