A Very Private Gentleman - George Clooney

A few days ago we wrote about the news that photographer Anton Corbijn would direct his second feature film, an adaptation of Martin Booth's hitman novel A Very Private Gentleman. Variety has published a Cannes update on George Clooney today that includes two bits of good news. First off, Clooney has joined and will star in A Very Private Gentleman for Corbijn. No other casting for the project was announced. Secondly, his other film which shot last year, the Grant Heslov-directed war comedy Men Who Stare at Goats, was picked up by Overture Films. Clooney will shoot A Very Private Gentleman in Italy this fall.

One thing I can tell you for sure is that the French love George Clooney. Photos of this guy are plastered everywhere all over the entire city of Cannes. He is pretty much the face of all things celebrity at this festival. As a reminder, in A Very Private Gentleman, Clooney will play an assassin who hides out in an idyllic Italian town before carrying out a final assignment. He resists his usual aversion to human interaction, and the friendships and romantic entanglements he engages in complicate his mission. I was already looking forward to this, but with Clooney, I'm even more excited, as I usually love seeing him.

#1 - I didn't write that sentence, actually it was from Variety, they're the ones who wrote up that synopsis sentence… Not me!
