Check This Out: A Christmas Carol Behind-the-Scenes Video
May 22, 2009
by Alex Billington
Last week we debuted the first poster as well as the first clip from Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol. And while we still don't have a trailer yet, Disney has put out a behind-the-scenes production video as part of The Backlot Buzz TV show. For those who want to get a better look at some concept art from A Christmas Carol, start here. The video gives us a better sense of what the film will look and feel like, at least until we see the trailer. And there's also an interview with Jim Carrey talking about working on performance capture. It's a fun intro to Zemeckis' newest CGI feature, which I'm excited to see in November. Check it out below.
Watch the behind-the-scenes video from A Christmas Carol:
An animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic about a Victorian-era miser named Ebenezer Scrooge who is taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.
A Christmas Carol is both written and directed by filmmaker extraordinaire Robert Zemeckis, of everything from Back to the Future to Who Framed Roger Rabbit to Forrest Gump to Contact to his past CGI movies The Polar Express and Beowulf previously. This is based on Charles Dickens' classic story. Jim Carrey stars at least four different characters, alongside of Gary Oldman, Robin Wright Penn, Colin Firth, Cary Elwes, and Bob Hoskins. Disney will debut A Christmas Carol in theaters everywhere on November 6th.

Sorry for being off-topic, but a question for Alex. Did you see Enter The Void today and if so will there be a review available? I really need some info on this film by a reviewer I trust.

Well, I just hope that Jim Carrey is able to separate himself from his usual Schtick, in this movie.
Really, why don't these directors leave well enough alone.
For me, the is only one "Scrooge", and that is the 1951 version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Alistair Sim. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor, get a copy, and watch it.
I think that Zemeckis has the Scrooge character's make-up crossed with the original version of "Nosferatu".
