Great New Trailer for Christian Alvart's Sci-Fi Pandorum!
May 27, 2009

Whoa! I didn't want to use the "must watch" tag again, but this definitely needs to be watched! A second new trailer for Christian Alvart's sci-fi thriller Pandorum has debuted over on MovieWeb. We featured the first trailer for this back in March and it looked pretty fantastic then, but it looks even better now. Not only are there some finished visual effects shots in this, but we get to see a little bit more about the story, including that the ship contained some 60,000 passengers that have all since disappeared. I'm getting a bit of a Event Horizon or even Firefly vibe from this and its got me incredibly excited - I can't wait to see it!
Thanks again to MovieWeb for debuting this. We'll update it with a higher res version when available.
Two crewmen awaken from hyper-sleep aboard a spacecraft. None of their equipment is working, and their memories are incomplete. What was their mission? How much time has passed? Where are they? As they try to piece things together, they discover they are not alone, and the ship's new inhabitants - tribal warriors carrying crudely made weapons - are moving among them, intent on killing all aboard.
Pandorum is directed by German filmmaker Christian Alvart, of only the horror films Curiosity & the Cat and Antibodies previously. The screenplay was written by Travis Milloy, of Street Gun and Just Like Mona previously. Overture Films is bringing Pandorum to theaters everywhere on September 4th this fall.

lol at the little kid at the end.
The trailer is alright. Looks kind of cheesy.

ok ok ok. I'm now liking this a little more. I dig the claustrophobic vibe the trailer gave at the beginning. I'm a little worried about the monsters on board. They really have to look like something we havn't seen before or else it will be very cheesy. I really hope this doesn't turn into Descent in space. I kind of hope that the monsters aren't revealed too much.

Reminds me a lot of the original Alien. Same atmosphere, at least.

why in films like these, spaceships always have bad interior lighting…

Not sure about this one. Has Dennis Quad ever made a really good movie? I mean he's kinda a low rent Jeff Bridges. A B grade actor, who keeps getting A grade rolls! And his brother can't act either. At least with the Bridges family, Jeff has made some amazing films. Now if you really enjoy thought provoking, and intelligent films like Inner Space and Christmas Vacation. Then have at it. I just don't get it!

at the begining of the trailer it seemed like event horizon… but by the end it seemed like resident evil 1 mixed with the descent done to the tune of the PG13 'horror' movies (aka the ring, the grudge, etc)
but i just can't say no to sci fi

I like the resurge in sci fi going on right now. Looks like something I will give a chance for sure.

…
Not a big fan of Dennis Quaid,
but this definitely looks like something to keep an eye on…
has an old school James Cameron horror/sci-fi spin to it,
which I like…
but I doubt it can produce the quality of a Cameron film…
still this is certainly on my "to rent" list…

"run and dont look back"…hmmmm Aliens 3 anyone? Aww hell every space horror film ever made for that fact as been bitten, but man there just isn't any ground breaking things happening nowadays.good luck Pandorum and I hope you have a surprise hidden somewhere within that big ass cliche.

That was down right amazing! #25 - That's what I was thinking! With a little alien mixed in. Love Quad, brilliant actor!

I don't find Quaid great, but not as bad as some of you are making it out. Either way, Ben Foster's greatness trump Quaid's "averageness" on any project. I'm going to have to give it a chance and check it out.

I loved Event Horizon but I think this looks like crap.
Can't find anything new or original or interesting in this trailer.
I'm gonna pass on that.

I gotta say I'm loving everyone's "it looks like a mix of Dead Space with Event Horizon and Harry Met Sally with a touch of Wallace and Grommit" comments. Me, I think it looks decent, worth checking out anyway.

Cheesy oneliners and as usual, they just had to tell the entire story in the trailer.

Ok, ok, the general concensus: this looks like… alien + event horizon + doom + dead space + the descent + 28 days later + sunshine. Based on that fact… eh… we better wait and go to a movie theater when it's finally released and make a proper opinion!

#34 Seriously!
I hate when they do that! No more surprises at the movies. The only thing you're left to find out is, who's gonna survive? That doesn't make me wanna spend my money.
They almost ruined "Moon" for me with their trailer. Way to tell the whole story in 2 minutes. *shakes fist angrily*
But, I am a huge fan of Sam Rockwell and Ben Foster.
Any movie either of those 2 are in, I will watch regardless.
Still, stop putting key plot twists in trailers, Hollywood. -.-

The missing passengers, why they have devolved into these monstrous things over a thousand years while the heroes were in hypersleep!
A Puritan confirmation of the inherently corrupt nature of man….
Looks like pure crap. I'll watch it anyway, but with the same disappointment and groans as with Event Horizon. This will be about the same level of storytelling and effects. Most people unstunted from pot and public school will give it a pass, probably wisely.
