Rogen, Bateman, Wiig, and Hader Join Greg Mottola's Paul
May 27, 2009

The cast for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's geek alien road trip comedy Paul has grown by five today. Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch have all joined the cast. Though Rogen won't be seen in the movie, as he will be voicing the alien that the two encounter. Pegg and Frost, who wrote the script, will play two science-fiction fanatics on a road trip to Comic-Con whose conspiracy dreams come true when they trek to Area 51 and encounter an escaped alien named Paul. As was announced last year, Superbad and Adventureland director Greg Mottola will be directing. The movie starts shooting in June.
This is really starting to turn into an awesome comedy. Its got a hell of a cast and a great concept. My only worry is that we're going to get some cheesy-looking alien like the one from Stephen Chow's CJ7 or any of the Hollywood movies in the last year that have included "aliens" (like this). Although I'm sure Mottola and Pegg/Frost have come up with something cool that won't be cheesy except in a comical way. This isn't an Edgar Wright production (he's up in Canada shooting Scott Pilgrim), but I'm sure Pegg and Frost will still kick ass, especially with Mottola helming anyway. We'll let you know when we have more on Paul soon!

Huge fan of Pegg and Frost's work since their "Spaced" days. Casting Bateman and Hader is just wish-fulfillment, amazing cast. This should hold me over until "The World's End".

Yep. Pretty much I'm sold with this cast. And about the alien looking cheesy, remember Shaun of the Dead: although a comedy, the zombies were pretty much cool. I'm worried most for the director Mottola, I liked Superbad, but could he make justice to the script?

Only three responses!? Pegg and Frost are the comic gold duo. I cannot wait to see this. And Bateman and Lynch too?? Just keeps getting better.
