Warner Bros Acquires Danny McBride's Hench Adaptation

Warner Brothers has acquired the rights to the AiT/Planet Lar graphic novel Hench, created by Adam Beechen and Mario Bello, and is developing it as a comedy for Danny McBride to star in. McBride will write the script with "Eastbound & Down" writer Shawn Harwell. The comic centers on a football player who suffers a career-ending injury and needs a job, so he signs on to become the henchman of a successful villain. Original Films' Neal Moritz will produce with Jason Netter's Kickstart Productions. This isn't McBride's next project, but it is lined up for him eventually. No word on who might direct this just yet.
The fine line between hero and villain is just another of longtime super-villain henchman Mike Fulton's many scars. Now, faced with a terrible choice that could mean life and death for heroes, villains, his family, and himself, Mike ponders just how his normal life went so crazy. You can pick up a copy of the graphic novel either on Amazon or on Khepri. It's great to see Danny McBride finally gaining enough momentum to be giving a starring role, but I can't say I'm sold yet on the concept of a comedic comic book movie. Though I better read through the graphic novel first. Either way, we'll be keeping our eye on this.

So this is basically a live action version of The Venture Brothers? I love that show and the 2 henchmen for the monarch….this sounds interesting despite Danny McBride being attached.
