Three Character Banners for Michael Mann's Public Enemies
Universal has debuted three new character banners for Michael Mann's Public Enemies - one for Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, and Christian Bale. We haven't seen much new from this since we debuted the first poster and the official trailer back in March. It's great to see some new artwork from this, but they're not too amazing, just new manipulations of the same photos we've seen plenty of times previously. I'm looking forward to Public Enemies, certainly, but it's not anything I'm overly excited about. It'll be good, but I doubt it'll end up being one of my favorite movies of the summer, and I'm not sure why. What do you think?

Check These Out: Great New Inglourious Basterds Photos
There is nothing that I am more excited to see right now than Inglourious Basterds, but that may be because I'm at Cannes and I get to see it in less than a week. I'm also trying not to even think about it, to keep my expectations in check, so I can go in and be blown away. I was trying not to post much from it (besides new posters), but then these new photos hit on CineMovies (via The Playlist) and I couldn't help it - they all look great. I'm a sucker for great photographer, and not only are these photos just that, but they feature some more of the obscure characters from Quentin Tarantino's film that we haven't seen yet.

Must Watch: Tremendous Trailer for Lee Daniels' Precious
Lionsgate has debuted the trailer for Lee Daniels' Precious (on Oprah.com today), the Sundance sensation that is bound to gain even more acclaim in the next few weeks at Cannes. This is one of the most emotionally draining films I've ever seen, but it is a tremendous work of art and definitely worth seeing. This trailer is actually one of the best trailers for an indie film I've ever seen, it does such an exceptional job of showing only enough, but not too much, in order to get audiences in theaters. Precious stars Mo'Nique, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, and one of the most amazing first-time lead actresses you'll ever see, Gabby Sidibe.

Interview: The Brothers Bloom Director Rian Johnson
There's an exceptional indie film that needs all the support it can get. The Brothers Bloom is the second feature film from auteur Rian Johnson, who broke onto the scene in 2005 with the high school noir thriller Brick. Bloom debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year (where I saw it for the first time) and has since played numerous other festivals all the while leading up to its opening this upcoming weekend, May 15th, starting in limited theaters. In honor of that release, I was able to sit down and chat with Rian for a good 20 minutes to delve into everything Brothers Bloom and beyond. You don't want to miss this!

Take That Michael Bay? McG Finally Says It's All a Big Joke
A few weeks back, at the end of April, we published a new quote from McG in the on-going McG vs Michael Bay battle. Until recently, the "fight" had been about whose robots were bigger and whose robots were more realistic. But then McG took it to the next level: "Michael Bay has a big cock, but I'd like to believe mine is bigger." So how does Bay overcome that? Well, thankfully he doesn't have to, as McG finally cleared the air in a recent interview with E! Online. "That was lost immediately and people gravitated to two spoiled brat directors think they have big cocks," McG said. "Nothing could be further from the truth."

Isabel Coixet's Map of the Sounds of Tokyo Promo Trailer
A few of you out there may be familiar with Spanish auteur Isabel Coixet, but for those of you who aren't, she most recently directed the Ben Kingsley film Elegy last year as well as a few other great dramas. Coixet is returning to Cannes this year to premiere Map of the Sounds of Tokyo, a hitman drama starring Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, Brothers Bloom) and Sergi López (Pan's Labyrinth). We recently ran across the first bare-all promo trailer (this is not safe for work) and thought it was worth sharing today. I was planning on catching this at Cannes already, but now I'm very excited to see it, as it looks like it might be fantastic.

Jackman, Weisz, Pattinson to Star in Unbound Captives
This already sounds like a film I won't want to see, but the cast makes up for it. Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson will star together in a period drama called Unbound Captives. The film is to be directed by Madeleine Stowe and will be her directorial debut. She wrote the script with her husband Brian Benben back in the early 90s, but declined a $5 million offer because originally she wanted to star in it. However, she eventually realized that would never be possible, cast Weisz in her role instead, and decided to direct the film. Hyde Park Entertainment will produce; production will start at the end of the year.

Park Chan-wook's Thirst is a Blood-Drenched Vampire Thriller?
Vengeance trilogy director Park Chan-wook returns to Cannes this year with his newest vampire film Thirst, starring The Host's Song Kang-ho. I'm looking forward to it quite a bit, but because I don't see it until tomorrow (Thursday), we've got to resort to pulling quotes from Reuters (via The Playlist) for the early buzz. They're already calling it a "blood-drenched thriller" along the lines of Park's past work, which often questions "human nature through scenes of shocking violence and dark humor." Also since I don't have the opportunity to talk with Park Chan-wook either, they have some great quotes from the filmmaker.

Check This Out: Cloverfield Monster's Design Progression
This is purely for my Cloverfield loving friends - since I know the movie really split audiences in the end. And it came out such a long time ago, there's almost no need to post this anymore. Anyway, found on personal website of lead character designer Neville Page (via our friends at io9) is an impressive collection of some of his early sketches and early models for Cloverfield. Neville has quite an amazing resume - he designed the Cloverfield monster, he was the lead creature and character design on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and he was the lead creature and character designer on James Cameron's Avatar. Read on for the designs.

New Writer Hired for Warner Brothers' He-Man Movie
Last year we heard a lot of buzz about a script by Justin Marks called Grayskull: The Masters of the Universe based on the He-Man series. It was reviewed by El Mayimbe and said to be a "masterpiece" - quite high praise for the guy who went on to write Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Then in October, it was reported that Warner Brothers had put the project on hold, or so we thought. They've just now hired a new writer - first-timer Evan Daugherty - to write a fresh draft of Grayskull for the studio. They also confirm the news from last year that Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson is still on board to direct.

Al Pacino Starring in Adaptation of Malcolm Gladwell's Blink
How can they adapt a great book like Blink, you ask? Well, screenwriter Stephen Gaghan has found a way, or so we hope. Over at the Risky Biz Blog, they have early details on how it's being dramatized as well as the news that Al Pacino is set to star. The project was initially setup at Universal, but then went indie at William Morris. For those unfamiliar with Blink, the book is Malcolm Gladwell's very popular exploration into how we make snap judgments. "Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant - in the blink of an eye - that actually aren't as simple as they seem."

First Gnarly Action Shot of Sly Stallone in The Expendables
Below you'll see Sylvester Stallone attempting to pull himself up into a seaplane as it's taking off. I hope you remember that sea plane (seen above - or click here)? This isn't anything that we haven't ever seen before, but at least it looks pretty damn cool. This newest action photo from The Expendables has debuted over on Ain't It Cool News tonight and I thought it was worth mentioning, even if it's yet another photo, not unlike the past few we've seen, and not as exciting as actual footage. I've also heard there may be a new poster on its way as well. So anyway, check out the cool new Stallone action photo below and enjoy!
