Paul Haggis Set to Direct The Next Three Days for Lionsgate

Oscar winning filmmaker Paul Haggis is getting back behind the camera for The Next Three Days, an adaptation of the French film Pour Elle from filmmaker Fred Cavayé. Lionsgate acquired the remake rights from Wild Bunch recently and has announced that Haggis would write and direct the feature. The story centers on an ordinary couple finding themselves in an unthinkable situation and having to make desperate choices that will test the limits of love and alter their lives forever. Seems a little vague? I think it's meant to be so that none of it's spoiled, maybe? It's Lionsgate's first collaboration with Haggis since Crash in 2004.
Haggis and Michael Nozik will produce The Next Three Days through their production entity Highway 61 Films, along with Marc Missonnier and Olivier Delbosc of Fidélité Films. Principal photography is expected to begin in August. The synopsis on IMDb describes Pour Elle as: "With no legal means left to him, a high school teacher devises a daring plan to rescue his wrongfully imprisoned wife from jail." It sounds like it could be quite interesting, but I'll follow it as a develops. Haggis' last collaboration with Lionsgate was quite fruitful - it earned him two Oscars for Best Screenplay and Best Picture. Can we expect the same for this?

"Pour elle" was very good for a first film.
I don't remember if it won a César but Diane Kruger and Vincent Lindon, the two leading actors, were convincing.
