First Look: DreamWorks Animation's Oobermind Movie Revealed

Yesterday we featured the first teaser poster for Scott Pilgrim and some new Marvel logos that were found on display on the show floor at the Licensing International Expo. Well, another sneaky photographer in Las Vegas sent over some new shots to Ain't It Cool News, this time looking at some DreamWorks Animation properties. The one we care about the most, or are excited to finally see something from, is Oobermind. Last week DreamWorks announced their slate through 2012 and lined-up for November, 2010 was this feature. It used to be called Master Mind, but they changed the title recently. Anyway, take a look below.
A satirical take on superhero movies, in which a notorious villain loses his oomph after he accidentally kills his nemesis Metro Man. My guess is that's Metro Man in the white and that's our villain, to be voiced by Robert Downey Jr., on the right in blue. As I mentioned in the line-up article, DWA has been criticized for never making any movies about actual humans, only talking animals. So this is one of their first features doing just that (besides, obviously, Monsters vs Aliens). While I was initially looking forward to this based on the concept, these character designs seem a bit bland and boring. Oh well, keep trying DreamWorks!

@ Papichulo
This is a story about Dreamworks. Wasn't it Pixar that did 'The Incredibles'? WHo knows maybe there will be a sequel to that.

Looks pretty simple of a plot if you ask me. RDJ's style of acting is gonna be the anchor for this flick. We'll follow him as tries to figure out how to get back into the swing of things, we take in his classic RDJ humor, we laugh through his failed attempts and by the end he turns good and becomes a superhero. Nexxxt!

Looks like a fun film to watch, despite #3's comments. There's always going to be someone over analyzing a film even if it's just an average family/kids film. Always going to be some pretentious member of the circle jerk, same ones that find any indie film "cool and edgy derp derp herp". Anyway, this film like I said before looks fun so far and my poster first impressions haven't failed me so far :]

Alex as much as i love your site i fail to understand your outright hatred towards Dreamworks ( or fox) how about judging each movie for what its worth… to me this looks good… the anti hero movies have been done in the past and havent worked… its brave that dreamworks is attempting to do this and with RDJ and tina fey on board i can see this being quite funny actually
if am allowed to vent…
you went hammer and tongs at FOX for screwing up WB's Watchmen by messing with legalities etc etc… and that movie was the most unpalatable piece of garbage i have had the misfortune of watching … sometimes its not the studios that are responsible for good or bad movies it depends on teh directors story writers and the actors… enough of the studio bashing…

Oobermind supposedly is about a villain who has a life-changing moment when his nemesis is destroyed. He finds his only purpose was to have had a rival.
When he tries to create a new rival, his new rival turns into a worse villain than him, eventually the titular Oobermind villain decides that the only recourse left to him is to be the good guy…
But will he enjoy that?
That was supposed to be the concept.. anyways…. We'll see.
