Will We See Another Scream Trilogy with the Original Cast?

Another day, another remake. Or maybe another reboot, I guess. This isn't the first time we've heard about Scream 4, but this is the first time we've heard that they're going all the way back to the original cast. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette have been approached to return for a new Scream movie that is being written and directed by Kevin Williamson, primarily responsible for writing Scream and Scream 2 as well as Wes Craven's Cursed. But that's not all - Williamson has "been working on a trilogy that will bring back many of the characters from the original movies."
EW says that no deals have been signed for either of the Arquette's, so don't take this as confirmed casting yet. Our last update on Scream 4 from January actually mentioned that they would be using a younger cast, not an older (or the original) one. So now this is starting to sound a bit like the Ghostbusters sequel in the works - where we'll see a younger group of to-be-killed kids that the story will actually about, but the original cast will be involved in some way. Who really knows? I don't really expect them to completely restart this with Courteney and David and maybe Neve Campbell and use them and only them. Do you?

If there's a way to pull this off with a fresh angle, then go for it. It would be cool to see the original cast members too.

This needs to be really carefully. I love the first two, third was disappointing. Williamson needs to reclaim is throne in the Scream franchise because the third one was terrible and the only one he had little to no involvement in. I remember some of the reviews for Scream 3 stating that it was "hilarious" and thinking, isn't this a horror movie? A little side humor is acceptable, but PLEASE make this movie scary. A real killer, with a killer motive, and a killer obsession, who uses scary tactics and threats and have the original cast in for at least a small part of the film to tie it to the original. Redeem the franchise from the god-awful Scream 3!

1st one was a classic and I can watch over and over. 2nd one was okay. 3rd one was absolutely horrible. However, i'd still be down to see whatever new version of the story comes out. Favortie line from the first one. Stu: "Did you really call the cops?…My mom and dad are going to be so mad at me!"

I'll pass on this. The first one was the only one they should have made.

I saw the first one again on TV this week and I hated it, it is so cheesy, I think they should re-make it but this time make it decent.
