Brody, Whitaker, Wood and Gigandet Join The Experiment

Now this should be a very interesting cast. Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood and Cam Gigandet have all joined The Experiment, a remake of the German psychological thriller Das Experiment. The original film, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, is about a psychological experiment where a group of ordinary people are recruited to take on various roles as guards or prisoners. The research study examines how the effects of these assigned roles, power, and control affect the participants. Brody will play the de facto leader of the group of prisoners while Whitaker will play a guard who becomes corrupted by the power he's given.
Inferno Entertainment and Magnet Media Group are developing The Experiment. They have hired "Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring to direct from a screenplay he also wrote himself. Shooting will begin in Iowa next month. I don't know much about the original German film, but this reminds me a lot of Jonathan Liebesman's The Killing Room, which was also a film about a psychological experiment, but more about the effects of stress in situations, rather than prisoners and guards. However, I loved seeing that play out, and I expect I'll feel the same way about this. The cast is the key and they've certainly chosen some great actors.

Seems odd to make a remake only eight years after the original.
Just hope they stay true to the psychological aspect, but seems like they will.

im from germany and and ive seen this movie many times, its one of the best german movies ever made. i wonder why they even wanna remake this, i hope they just dub the german movie!!

The original was excellent. A remake is unnecessary but unsurprising. It's too bad people are too lazy and useless to read subtitles.

Seriously, no one has heard of the Stanford Prison Experiment? 1971, people completely lost it and did some pretty vile things acting as prisoners and guards. Das Experiment is based on a novel about it.
A film about the experiment, entitled The Stanford Prison Experiment, is currently in production by Maverick Films. It was written by Christopher McQuarrie and Tim Talbott is said to feature actors Channing Tatum, Paul Dano, Ryan Phillippe, Giovanni Ribisi, Benjamin McKenzie, Charlie Hunnam, Kieran Culkin, Jesse Eisenberg, and Dylan Purcell, and is slotted for release in 2009.

great cast, movie sounds good, orginal is always better (sometimes), and cam gigandet is really getting out there he is throwing out movies left and right he is a great actor and i love to see more of him. i will watch this been awhile since i seen wood and i love and support cam gigandet in anything.

I just watched it again a few days ago, and I forgot how good it was.
Pretty scary to see what happens when you give normal people absolute power.

I am almost positive this is already being made and called the Stanford Prison experiment, unless the German movie does something different from the true story of the Stanford Prison Experiment. I am not sure what they are going to do.
I guess they didn't warn one another that the movie was already being developed. Unless we are going to be subjected to two of the same thing.

hah. but no, all good actors, gigandet a bit new. but the original was intense and will be hard to top
