Mission: Impossible 4 Officially in Development for 2011!
Damn is 2011 starting to look like a great year! Just last week we ran a somewhat sketchy rumor that J.J. Abrams would return to produce another Mission: Impossible 4 with Tom Cruise. It came from a very small blurb in TV Guide - but it looks as if they just beat the Hollywood Reporter to the punch. Now THR is officially reporting that Paramount has put M:i:IV on the fast-track for a 2011 release. It's not a surefire prospect - both Cruise and Abrams have so many other projects in the works, that neither will confirm what they're doing next or if they'll even have the time to get to Mission: Impossible by 2010. We can only hope!

Michael Clayton's Tony Gilroy is Rewriting Red Dawn?!
Wow, I'm not sure I believe this news! Not that I don't believe Latino Review, but I'm just shocked that such an amazing screenwriter has been brought on board for this. According to Latino Review, Oscar nominated screenwriter Tony Gilroy has recently been hired to rewrite (or at least polish) Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore's original script for MGM's remake of Red Dawn. Earlier in the week we announced that that Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki would be starring in the remake and that Bourne Ultimatum second-unit director Dan Bradley would be directing. However, Gilroy's name is now the most exciting part of this.

Stephen Gaghan Adapting Hunter S. Thompson's Hell's Angels
Hell's Angels. Those two words are able to conjure a myriad of emotions, no matter if you're eighteen or seventy-eight. Leather. Anarchy. Violence. Honor. Imposition. Counter-culture. Fear. ComingSoon reports from an interview with director Tony Scott that he and Stephen Gaghan are set to bring the notorious biker gang to the big screen. Gaghan, the Academy Award-winning scribe of Traffic, is currently adapting Hunter S. Thompson's nonfiction work Hell's Angels - a first person account of the gang from inside its ranks. In order to conduct his research in the 1960's, Thompson became a member of the gang itself.

Danielle Panabaker Also Joins John Carpenter's The Ward
If you weren't interested in John Carpenter's latest, you might be now. Carpenter has booked former Friday the 13th actress Danielle Panabaker to star opposite Amber Heard (announced in February). The project is called The Ward, a psychological horror thriller written by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen (Long Distance). The story follows a girl (Heard) who is admitted to a psychiatric ward where she meets other girls there with distinct personalities and discovers a mysterious girl haunting the halls at night. Panabaker plays another patient in the institution, a snobbish girl who flirts with orderlies and faces electroshock therapy.

Must Watch: Red Band Trailer for Park Chan-wook's Thirst
Focus Features has debuted the official US trailer for Park Chan-wook's Thirst over on IGN today. If you can't stand the sight of blood - especially if someone is drinking it - then I don't suggest watching this. It's a red band trailer meaning they don't hold back, especially on the grotesque stuff that Park Chan-wook has put into this. The film has already been scheduled for a limited release starting on July 31st. Hardcore cinephiles should be familiar with Park Chan-wook, the Korean director who brought us the incredible Vengeance trilogy, including Oldboy. This time, it's a story about a vampire, but it's still as twisted as ever.

Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman Talk Ghostbusters 3 Again
Just about every day there's a new quote from someone about Ghostbusters 3 - usually from one of the original four - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson - or the director of those first two movies, Ivan Reitman. Most of these quotes don't bring anything new to the table. Especially since we already know about as much as we will know until Sony wants to officially announce a director or a cast. But as far as we can tell, the script isn't even finished (or ready) anyway. But there are two good updates, one from Harold Ramis at Movieline, the other from Ivan Reitman at MTV, that I thought I'd feature today.

Michael Bay Presents: Transformers 2 Facts and Figures!
Only 7 days to go! Michael Bay has posted a fun little update on his own blog with facts and figures from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. What does this mean? Well, read on and find out! Essentially, he lists facts and figures regarding the technical or digital side, including how much diskspace was required to store everything at ILM or how long it took to render certain frames of the movie. Not only is it crazy just to see how much bigger and better they made this movie, but it sheds some light onto how incredible ILM is. Keep on reading for some of my favorite facts and figures or head over to MichaelBay.com for lots more!

Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart in Love Happens
Sometimes when you least expect it... You should be able to tell from that photo and the title of this, Love Happens, that it's a chic flick, or at least a romance. Universal has debuted the first trailer on Yahoo today for this delightful little romantic drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. I'm a sucker for the occasional tearjerker like this and this time they really got me. I don't expect this to be one of the best romances of this decade, but there's something about the painfully sad look on Eckhart's face and the shyness of Aniston's character that got me. This obviously isn't for everyone, but I'm looking forward to it.

Will These Five New Posters and a TV Spot Save G.I. Joe?
I doubt it. I'm not one for making accurate early predictions, but I fear G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is already headed down the tubes. Even if you were still looking forward to it a few weeks ago, that rumor about the internal struggles probably killed it. And I don't think putting out new posters and a new TV spot are going to make everyone forget how bad it looks or the story about how it probably shouldn't have been directed by Stephen Sommers. But maybe that's just me. Maybe I just think this looks so bad and everyone else thinks it looks good, I don't know. I just don't think these posters are going to make a difference.

First Chilling Trailer for Sony's The Stepfather Remake
This fall, Daddy's home! The first trailer for The Stepfather, a remake of the 1987 thriller of the same name, has hit the web today. Yep, this is that movie with a poster that has hands holding a tie in a menacing way (see that here). It's kind of like Disturbia, except that the serial killer is actually this guy's soon-to-be-stepfather, not his neighbor. Oooh, that one give you chills? Of course, this features plenty of hotties in bikinis (is there any other way to sell a horror?) like Amber Heard and plenty of menacing "I don't trust this guy" moments. Anyway, I'll probably check this out, but it doesn't look like it'll be anything too special.

Rumor: Bruno Added Scenes to Appease the Gay Community?
There's one thing you don't want to do in Hollywood - upset the gay community. And unfortunately that's just what Bruno is doing. An editorial coming from GLAAD just hit Hollywood Reporter today and a separate article on The Wrap addresses the issue as well. However, Dominic Patten of The Wrap claims that Universal and Sacha Baron Cohen actually reshot part of the movie due to pressure from prominent gay individuals in Hollywood - like director Mike White - who apparently "found the Bruno character to be a depiction of fetishism rather than a comedic stereotype." Were there really reshoots on Bruno? I doubt it.

The Weekly Moviegoer - Pump Up the Volume!
People are so noisy and disrespectful at the movies. Often I find myself trying to enjoy a good comedy, and the audience goes and ruins it by laughing out loud, causing me to miss whatever dialogue follows a joke or bit of slapstick. Who knows if I've missed an important line of exposition or a successive joke because of these rude outbursts? It's no wonder that I tend to wait for comedies to hit DVD, when I can watch them in the privacy of my own home and hear every bit of it over my light guffawing. Obviously I'm kidding… mostly. Although I've never been a loud laugher, I appreciate the sound of a crowd in amusement.
