Brilliant Poster for Paul Giamatti's Cold Souls Indie Film
Now this might be a contender for the poster of the year. Cinematical has debuted the official poster for Sophie Barthes' Cold Souls starring Paul Giamatti as himself. The film is a Being John Malkovich-like story about how Giamatti loses his "soul" when an experimental soul extraction company misplaces it. It premiered at Sundance earlier this year to lukewarm reviews, but has been praised by others (Eric from IONCinema called it one of the best films of the year). Now we finally have an official poster to promote its early August limited release and it's absolutely brilliant. You'll definitely want to see this full-size below!

Inception Has a $200M Budget, Will Be Shooting in Canada
Not that this is a shocking amount, as The Dark Knight had a budget of $185 million, but it's great to hear nonetheless, especially since a few people might've thought that Nolan's latest wouldn't be a big action movie. The Calgary Sun (via SlashFilm) has an article about Christopher Nolan's Inception shooting up in Canada later this year. Not only do they mention some details about where it'll be shooting and its size and scope, but that the budget will be around $200 million - or closer to $176.5 million if that first amount is actually Canadian dollars. What I love the most is that we still don't know anything about this movie at all.

Jason Voorhees in the Snow in the Friday the 13th Sequel?
You read that right - in the snow! Platinum Dunes producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller talked with a handful of press last week when they were up in Chicago visiting the set of the new A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. While they talked a lot about other upcoming movies and franchises and everything else, the most interesting story relates to where they might be taking Jason in the next Friday the 13th sequel. In short, they want to do the next one in a winter setting, with snow and snowball fights and all. Well, maybe not snowball fights, but they want to do something we haven't ever seen before and thought about snow.

First Look: Gemma Arterton as Io in Clash of the Titans
From a Bond girl to a princess (Prince of Persia) and now to a goddess. The first photo of British actress Gemma Arterton is costume on the set of Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans has been revealed over at Gemma Arterton Online. Unlike the last two photos we posted, this one is not official, it's another shot from the set, but it looks great anyway. Her character, named Io, wasn't actually in the original movie. In this remake, she is Perseus' love interest, but besides that we don't know much about her. Even if there's not much to see, it's at least a beautiful photo. Leterrier really found some amazing locations to this shoot at.

Jay Baruchel on the Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse Movie
A year ago it was confirmed that Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel would be working with Mandate Pictures to develop a full-length version of their YouTube short Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse. While it was only a year ago, at the time it seemed like a completely different world - Seth Rogen hadn't been seen in Pineapple Express or Observe and Report yet, and Jay Baruchel hadn't kicked ass in Tropic Thunder or been cast in The Sorcerer's Apprentice. A year later and MTV has an update from Baruchel and he's actually got some good news. "Jay and Seth will at the very least happen in the next year and a half for sure."

Western Icon Roy Rogers is Headed Back to the Big Screen
Nashville-based 821 Entertainment is planning on bringing western icon Roy Rogers back to the big screen. The company has partnered with the Roy Rogers Family Entertainment Corp. to launch a King of the Cowboys film trilogy. Their plan is not to make a biopic about Rogers, who passed away in 1998, but rather to launch a family fantasy adventure franchise, whatever that means. Rogers was a western iconic in the 40s and 50s and made more than 88 films, produced and starred in 100 episodes of his own TV show, and appeared on more than 400 licensed items, including in comics. Is the western really coming back?

Must Watch: Badass Red Band 'Not Quite Hollywood' Trailer
This is the wild, untold story of Ozploitation! Don't know what Ozploitation is? It's all of the exploitation films made in Australian in the 70s and early 80s. Not Quite Hollywood is a fast moving journey through Aussie genre cinema - an unjustly forgotten cinematic era unashamedly packed full of boobs, pubes, tubes and even a little kung fu. This has been playing at countless film festivals around the world and is being praised as one of the most exciting documentaries of the year. Magnolia has released a red band trailer for its limited release in July. So give it a shot and enjoy this little tease at the finest Ozploitation has to offer!

Warner Bros' Live-Action Akira Movie is Dead as a Doornail!
Good news or bad? That's up to you. It was only a year ago when it was officially announced that Warner Brothers and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way were developing a live-action version of the anime Akira with first-time Irish director Ruairi Robinson. So now its been 15 months and we haven't heard much - but that's because its been struggling internally at the studio. Bloody Disgusting now confirms via "two separate sources" that the project is "dead as a doornail." Robinson is apparently also off of the project. When it was announced last year, the plan was to actually have shot and ready to debut in theaters this summer.

Worth Watching - June 13: Fifty Dead Men Walking Trailer
The trailer for Fifty Dead Men Walking from Canadian filmmaker Kari Skogland has been released by TVA Films (its Canadian distributor) today. This indie first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year but I missed seeing it there and still haven't had the chance to catch it. This trailer makes me feel like I shouldn't have missed it, as it looks like a good drama. Fifty Dead Men Walking stars Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, and Rose McGowan (even though you don't really see her in the trailer). It seems like it has a good cast and great story, but I never heard many positive reviews from Toronto, so I'm not sure what to think.

Thomas Haden Church Cast in John Carter of Mars, Too?
We've got another bit of casting news related to Andrew Stanton's John Carter of Mars to reveal today. Yesterday it was announced that Wolverine co-stars Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins were cast in the Disney production as the two lead actors. Now today we also learn that Thomas Haden Church might be joining as well. Church appeared on Jeffrey Lyons' show ReelTalk to talk about appearing in Imagine That. When asked about his variety of roles, both comedies and dramas, Church said, "I'm probably going to do a huge science fiction drama at Disney called John Carter of Mars in the spring and that's a very dramatic role."

Rumor: Ron Howard Directing the Stretch Armstrong Movie?!
Say it ain't so! Back in February, Universal announced that they were making a movie based on the action figure Stretch Armstrong. Sure, Transformers is based on a toy as well, but a Stretch Armstrong movie, come on?! Evan Almighty writer Steve Oedekerk had been hired to work on the script, but that's all we knew. Then just last week, Brian Grazer was announced as the producer, which meant this wasn't just a throwaway project. While browsing through BusinessWeek, our friends over at IESB noticed that they specifically say that Oscar winning Frost/Nixon director Ron Howard will be directing it. Really?!
