Rob Cohen Ditches xXx Sequel for McG's Medieval Movie

Rob Cohen

Remember that new xXx sequel called xXx: The Return of Xander Cage? It might actually turn out pretty good! One of Hollywood's worst directors, Rob Cohen, has decided to ditch that xXx sequel to instead take on a project called Medieval that McG will produce. We first wrote about Medieval back in March, when it was rumored that McG might direct it. Cohen describes it as The Magnificent Seven in the Middle Ages, though I can assure you this will be the farthest from John Sturges's work you will ever see. New Regency, which will finance this and distribute through Fox, acquired the spec script for upwards of seven figures.

Bruno ist Coming - Three Crazy New TV Spots for Bruno

New TV Spots for Bruno

Universal has debuted three crazy new TV spots for Bruno, the summer comedy that I know everyone is just waiting to see. How far does he go this time? We've all watched that red band trailer over and over, so it's good to finally see more new footage that no one out there has seen yet. It looks like Bruno really does go farther than he's ever gone before, which is what he really needs to do to kick Borat's ass! The first TV spot is the best of the three, though it's great hearing "Numa Numa" in the last one and seeing Ron Paul in the second one. All three of the new TV spots can be seen below or in high definition on Yahoo. Enjoy these!

First Look: Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in Iron Man 2!

Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in Iron Man 2

Whoa! Jon Favreau is definitely on top of all the buzz. People have been asking to see Mickey Rourke as Whiplash since he's been talking about him kicking so much ass on Twitter. And now we have our first look courtesy of USA Today! Rourke stars as Ivan Vanko aka the villain Whiplash in Iron Man 2. His "outfit" consists of a power pack on his chest that looks similar to the one used by Tony Stark. "The technologies are definitely related, and that's part of the core theme of the film," explains director Jon Favreau. This is probably not what you're expecting to see (I wasn't), but it's awesome to see Rourke suited up nonetheless.

Must Watch: Awesome Promo Trailer for The Warrior's Way

The Warrior's Way Promo Trailer

I almost saved this for the weekend, but I thought it was way too awesome to keep until then. Our friends at 24FPS (via Quiet Earth) discovered another fantastic trailer for a movie I didn't know even existed. The Warrior's Way stars Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston, Geoffrey Rush, and Dong-Kun Jang as Yang. It mixes westerns, martial arts, and fantasy in a way you've probably never seen. That's the only introduction you need, because this 4-minute long promo trailer is exhilarating to watch. There are some scenes that, even in low res, look incredible, like that hallway scene where Yang is being shot at in the dark. Just watch this!

Harvey Weinstein Wants to Cut 40 Minutes from Inglourious Basterds?!

Quentin Tarantino

If you haven't been following industry news recently, The Weinstein Company is in a lot of financial trouble. Similar to New Line a few years ago, their survival is somewhat dependent on the performance of three big movies this fall: Inglourious Basterds, H2: Halloween 2, and Rob Marshall's Nine. This wouldn't matter much, except that Harvey Weinstein is attempting to get his hands on Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and cut out 40 minutes of it, according to The Wrap. There have been numerous industry pieces on the TWC situation, but Sharon Waxman's article is the only one that mentions this rumor specifically.

The Film Feed: Episode 17 - No More Wire Hangovers!

The Film Feed

In this episode of The Film Feed, the guys introduce several new segments into the show. First of all, Clark admits his lack of knowledge concerning the roots, origins, and early life of cinema's history. Therefore, he has committed to watching several classic films every week after the annoying, and often insulting, nagging from Will. Also, Sean continues his tradition of finding something to vehemently hate within every segment of the news. The guys also pontificate on the evolution of comedy over the years in preparation for an in depth review of The Hangover. Be sure to tune in next week for the newest installment of The Film Feed.

Ed Helms Has Been Pitching a Civil War Time Travel Comedy?!

Ed Helms

Awesome! Ed Helms, who starred in The Hangover as Stu Price, is a beloved comedic actor probably best known for being a correspondent on "The Daily Show" and appearing as Andy Bernard in "The Office". He's on the verge of becoming a very mainstream actor and I think The Hangover may be what he needed. But speaking of Ed Helms, the actor told the A.V. Club (via The Playlist) in an interview recently about an idea he's been pitching through Steve Carell's company Carousel Productions. "It's sort of a big, Back to the Future kind of comedy about Civil War reenactors who are sent back to the actual Civil War." Hell yes!

Another New International 500 Days of Summer Trailer

500 Days of Summer

Another new international trailer for 500 Days of Summer has hit but I don't think you should watch it. I'm just saying, for those of you who really want the most pure experience possible seeing this for the first time in theaters in July, don't watch this. It's not that it spoils anything, per se, but instead that at this point, we've just seen way too much from what I believe is one of the best movies of the year. And if you watch this, too, then there won't be any surprising moments left to see in theaters. Beyond that, I agree with Peter Sciretta in that this is selling the movie as a typical romantic comedy, which is exactly what it is not.

Shia LaBeouf No Longer Interested in Y: The Last Man?

Shia LaBeouf - Y: The Last Man

When I reported the news yesterday that D.J. Caruso was attached to The Defenders, I realized that, yet again, there was no hope that we'd see a Y: The Last Man movie anytime soon. Now this news today just confirms my worst fears. Shia LaBeouf talked with Wizard magazine recently and was briefly asked about Y: The Last Man, which he has been attached to for a few years and has been previously adamant about supporting. "I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around," LaBeouf said. The reason being is that it's too much like his Transformers character.

Jack Black Talks About Love for Charlyne Yi's Paper Heart

Jack Black

As part of a promotion for the summer indie comedy Paper Heart, comedian Charlyne Yi and her "fake" director went and interviewed a few other celebrities and comedians and asked them about love. In this short little video, they talk with Jack Black. It stars out on the right track, but soon derails, as the director tries to take hold and turn it into something it isn't. This actually mirrors the movie itself in a great way, as the documentary (which you can see the trailer for here) follows Charlyne Yi as she accidentally falls in love with Michael Cera, but then the director gets in the way and tries to turn it into something it isn't. Enjoy!

Bryce Dallas Howard Writing The Originals for Her Father to Direct?

Bryce Dallas Howard

Universal and Imagine have picked up The Originals, a drama written by actress Bryce Dallas Howard and writing partner Dane Charbeneau (Orchids), that could end up being directed by her father, Ron Howard. Originals is an ensemble film about a group of young friends who reconvene for a weekend in New York after learning that the teacher who shaped their childhoods has fallen into a mysterious coma. This is all one big family affair, as co-writer Charbeneau began dating Bryce's sister Jocelyn while writing and is now engaged to her. Ron Howard hasn't chosen what his next feature is yet coming off of Angels & Demons.

Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper Confirmed for The A-Team

Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper

We keep hearing rumors off and on about who might be in The A-Team movie, but now we finally have some official casting. Liam Neeson is in negotiations to play Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, the leader of the group, while The Hangover's Bradley Cooper is in early talks to play Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck. We previously heard a rumor about Cooper being in the role a month or so ago, so it's good to see him get confirmed. As for Neeson, that's quite a big name that I definitely wasn't expecting, but there's a reason for that. Instead of going campy again, this will have a tone closer to Mission: Impossible and Ocean's Eleven.
