More New District 9 Viral Posters and Banners Discovered
I'm back again with your weekly update on all things District 9. There's not much to report on this week, although I have it on good authority that we should be seeing something very exciting next week. However, I do want to feature this new bus shelter poster as seen below (via Trailer Addict). I've actually seen this on display around Los Angeles, in addition to some of the new banners seen beneath it, as Sony has been covering major cities with as much of this viral advertising as they can (and I like it so far). This is a cleaner version of the target found on the District 9 poster and I think it's a much more effective design by itself.

Harry Potter's IMAX Opening Delayed Two Weeks by Transformers
This is just not a great year for IMAX. It was recently discovered (by investors, so claims THR) that since IMAX made a contractual arrangement last year to give Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a full 4 week run in its theaters, the IMAX debut of the new Harry Potter movie will be delayed by two weeks. IMAX made that arrangement with Paramount last year before Warner Brothers moved the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from November to July. And since Transformers hits on June 24th, its month-long run won't end until July 22nd, meaning Harry Potter won't show in IMAX until July 29th.

Wes Craven Confirms the New Scream Trilogy Rumors
Is this good news or bad news, I don't really know? Last week we ran a rumor that said both Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette would be returning for Scream 4. Not only that, but also that screenwriter Kevin Williamson was writing a completely new trilogy that would continue the franchise with more sequels and not reboot it. Over the weekend, Digital Spy caught up with Wes Craven, the creator and director of the original three Scream movies. He was asked not only to confirm the rumor about the Arquettes, but also to give an update on the status as well, with a hint at the possibility of directing them.

Rodriguez Says He's Hoping to Shoot The Jetsons Next Year?!
Back in April, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez told Austin press that his line-up for the next few years would include Machete, then "a sci-fi action film called Nerveracker, a reboot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons." Apparently he wasn't joking about all that. We've heard confirmation on almost all of those, except for The Jetsons. Well, Rodriguez just told MTV today that he's hoping to start shooting "next year." And this is the live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon series we're talking about. Can he really finish all of those other projects by next year?

Gyllenhaal and Hathaway Cast in Ed Zwick's Love and Other Drugs
Most outlets are focusing on the news that Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reuniting for the first time since playing husband and wife in Brokeback Mountain in 2005. But to us, the more interesting news here is that filmmaker Ed Zwick, who previously directed Defiance and Blood Diamond, is going the dramatic route for once. Gyllenhaal and Hathaway have been cast in Love and Other Drugs, a pharmaceutical relationship drama previously titled Pharma. Fox 2000 and New Regency are developing the film, which is based off of Jamie Reidy's book "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman."

Check This Out: Coffee Stained Winged Creatures Poster
Another sleek new poster to feature today. This one is for an indie film called Winged Creatures from Australian filmmaker Rowan Woods. Peace Arch Entertainment recently retitled the film to just Fragments for its US release, even though this poster is not from the US. I wanted to feature it today because, although it's not the best film, the poster has a pretty cool design showing a spilled cup of coffee that turns into a bird. Simple, but effective, and well done in the visual context of the poster. Unfortunately, I had the chance to see this late last year, and it was terrible. But even so, this poster is worth checking out in full below.

Might We See More Saw Movies Beyond Just Saw VIII?
Due out in October is Saw VI, the latest installment in the horror franchise that began back in 2004. Not everyone is excited to see this continue, but as long it keeps making money (which it definitely does), Lionsgate will keep making them. The rumor going around is that Saw 8 (aka Saw VIII) is supposed to be the grand finale, but who knows what could happen. Bloody Disgusting caught up with Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell, at E3 recently and asked him if he had heard the rumors. "Yes, I have," he says, before adding: "Final is a relative word. Especially in entertainment." Could we eventually see Saw 9 or even Saw 10?

Profile on Marvel Studios with Big Updates from Kevin Feige
I spent most of the later half of my day today at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City where the Produced by Conference was being held. One of the presentations was a profile on Marvel Studios being moderated by the LA Times' Geoff Boucher featuring Marvel's president of production Kevin Feige. A few days ago, we posted a big update on Marvel's upcoming projects featuring quotes from Feige, but Paramount quickly had us pull down the post. In lieu of that missing update, we now have this one, with a few more tidbits from Feige on upcoming Marvel projects as well as just a general sense of his direction and ideas for the studio.

Disney Confirms Monsters Inc 2 Behind Closed Doors?
This isn't the first time we've heard this rumor - that Pixar is planning Monsters Inc 2 for 2013 - but it is the first time we've seen some sort of confirmation from Disney, even if it not public. Jim Hill reports that a few buyers in attendance at the Licensing International Expo last week told him that at a behind-closed-doors sales meeting for Disney, they confirmed that Monsters Inc 2 would be director Pete Docter's follow-up to Up. Those who are still a bit hazy should know that Jim Hill is a Disney blogger who has tons of insider contacts, which means we shouldn't be taking this news lightly even though it's not official yet.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Will Be Longer in IMAX!
"Haters beware." That's how Michael Bay signs off in the latest update on his official blog. Bay posted one last update before heading off to the premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in Japan and mentioned a few interesting things. Not only does he confirm that there are a total of 42 different robots in this movie, but that it's just barely getting finish because of the attention to detail all of the animators are putting in. He also mentions that the IMAX version of the movie will be "slightly longer" with "more robot fighting." Now you know exactly where you'll have to see this in theaters starting on June 24th - in IMAX!

Masi Oka's MMORPG Inspired Project Gets Picked Up by DreamWorks
Heroes' star Masi Oka will make his transition to the big screen with The Defenders. But this isn't exactly what you're thinking. Masi conceived the idea on his own and DreamWorks just picked it up. The Defenders is a "family adventure project" about a group of teenagers from around the world who play a MMORPG, each unaware of who they really are behind the cover of their consoles and avatars. They are forced to come together for a real adventure, becoming inadvertent heroes in the process. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing (not writing) with D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) in negotiations to direct.

Neil Patrick Harris Books Two More Feature Film Roles
Fresh off of hosting the Tonys last night, Neil Patrick Harris has lined-up roles in two new feature film projects. One of them is the starring role in the indie film The Best and the Brightest and the other is a supporting role in CBS Films' horror drama Beastly. Harris was last seen on the big screen in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay last year and also appeared in Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog." NPH will shoot both while on his summer hiatus from "How I Met Your Mother" with The Best and the Brightest coming first. He'll also probably show up in the next Harold & Kumar sequel.
