Paramount Picks Up Dan Bradley's 'Hellified' Action Movie

Dan Bradley

It looks like Paramount has found their own version of Universal's upcoming Dante's Inferno project. The studio has just picked up a supernatural action spec script called Hellified written by Andy Burg (K-9, Alaska) that "involves a journey to hell." Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce and Dan Bradley (seen in the photo above), the former stunt coordinator who is directing MGM's Red Dawn remake, will direct. No more additional details were revealed about the story or much else, but it sounds like Paramount wants to turn this into a big, exciting action movie where the hero travels to hell (and back).

Official Trailer for Mira Nair's 'Amelia' Starring Hilary Swank

Amelia Trailer

Fox Searchlight has just debuted the trailer for Mira Nair's Amelia, the biopic starring Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart. In addition to Swank, this also stars Ewan McGregor, Richard Gere, Virginia Madsen, Joe Anderson, Christopher Eccleston, and Mia Wasikowska. I will admit that I think Amy Adams plays a much cuter Amelia Earhart (in Night at the Museum 2), but Swank plays a much more realistic one. This looks like a great biopic but not much more. I'm sure it'll still be a wonderful film, as Mira Nair is a talented filmmaker, but like with The Aviator, I don't expect to love it. Anyway, let us know what you think of this!

Joe Gordon-Levitt on His 'Face' Eventually Being in G.I. Joe

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Over the last few weeks I haven't had too many good things to say about the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. But that changes today, as I am actually excited to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the movie as Cobra Commander himself. While we've seen a few trailers and some TV spots, Gordon-Levitt has been noticeably absent from all of the footage so far, and there's an obvious reason for that. As hardcore G.I. Joe fans know, Cobra Commander wears an ominous hood because his face is disfigured. Fans have been waiting and wondering if we'll ever even get to see this "face" at all, but Gordon-Levitt promises we will.

TV and Film Icon Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62 Today

Farrah Fawcett

TV and film icon and 1970's sex symbol Farrah Fawcett died at the age of 62 this morning in a Santa Monica hospital after a brave and public battle with anal cancer as reported by the Associated Press. Fawcett was first diagnosed with the disease in 2006, but she temporarily beat the cancer through chemotherapy and surgery before being re-diagnosed in 2007, at which time she began documenting her life and condition. When things got much worse two months ago, and the media and rumors got out of hand, the footage she had shot over the past three years was aired on NBC as part of the feature documentary Farrah's Story.

Check This Out: Number 8 Character Poster for Shane Acker's 9

Number 8 Character Poster for Shane Acker's 9

Armed with a giant kitchen cleaver and half a scissor blade, the none-too-bright muscle and enforcer of the group, 8 (voiced by Fred Tatasciore), was created to help the others physically survive the dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. io9 has debuted a new character poster for Shane Acker's animated movie 9 to compliment the official poster. I was expecting to see an entire series of these posters (from 1 to 9), but 24 hours after its debut, not a single other poster has popped up yet. Once they do put out an entire series of posters, I'll make sure to feature them again. For now, feast your eyes on this character poster for 9's 8.

Harvey Weinstein Berates Bloggers Over Basterds Cutting Rumors

Quentin Tarantino & Harvey Weinstein

You gotta love Harvey Weinstein. I imagine he'd be more than happy to fight anyone who asks (kind of like Uwe Boll). Right now I'm certain all that's on his mind is making sure that Inglourious Basterds, The Road, and Rob Marshall's Nine are huge hits, or The Weinstein Company may not make it to next year. A month ago, the web was abuzz with a controversial rumor that Quentin Tarantino was being forced by Harvey Weinstein to cut some 40 minutes off of Inglourious Basterds. It seemed hokey anyway, as it came from a very skeptical report on The Wrap. But now Harvey sets it all straight in this GQ interview.

Zack Snyder's Latest Updates on Frank Miller's 300 Sequel

300

Like it or not, it looks like the sequel to 300 might actually be coming together fairly quickly. We last heard about it back in October of last year, when director Zack Snyder revealed that Frank Miller was actually writing an entirely new graphic novel that he would then adapt once it was finished. In a new update over on ComingSoon, Snyder says that "I know for a fact that Frank [Miller] is writing right now." Maybe all that negativity towards The Spirit finally made him realize he's best at writing comics. "[He's] drawing away and seems to be knee-deep in it. I think he's going to head back to Greece again and do another reconnaissance."

It's Now or Never for Frank Darabont's Fahrenheit 451 Movie

Fahrenheit 451

Screenwriter Frank Darabont has been trying to get his Fahrenheit 451 movie made for years now. Its suffered numerous setbacks, including Tom Hanks dropping out last year, but he's determined to still get his vision of Ray Bradbury's novel to the big screen sooner than later. "I'm out to somebody at the moment, fingers crossed, because, boy, do I want to make that movie. I'm not giving up. I'll die in the traces before I don't make that movie," Darabont told SciFi Wire last night. While he wouldn't reveal the name of the actor he's pursuing to play Guy Montag, Darabont did say he's hoping it works out or all hope will be lost.

IFC Showing Lars von Trier's Antichrist in Theaters in October

Lars von Trier's Antichrist

One of the most controversial films of the year is officially getting a pre-Halloween limited release in Los Angeles and New York. IFC has set Lars von Trier's Antichrist for release on October 23rd. IFC will widen the theatrical release after its initial opening. It's also slated to show via their Video On-Demand service starting on October 21st as well, if you prefer to watch this in the comfort of your own home. No confirmation on whether the theatrical version will be NC-17 or not, though from the sounds of it, that's how it'll be shown in theaters. It was confirmed a few weeks ago that the NC-17 cut would show in the UK.

Ryan Reynolds to Star in Rodrigo Cortes' Thriller Buried

Ryan Reynolds

So what's next for Ryan Reynolds now that he's done with The Proposal and before he heads back behind the mask to play Deadpool in that spin-off? The 32-year-old actor is set to star in an indie thriller called Buried being directed by Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortés (of The Contestant previously). Reynolds will play a civilian contractor who's kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife. The script was written by newcomer Chris Sparling. Production will begin this month in Barcelona. Versus Entertainment is funding the film, wich will be shot entirely in Spain.

Must Watch: First Full Trailer for Richard Kelly's The Box!

The Box Trailer

Warner Brothers has debuted the first trailer on AOL for Richard Kelly's The Box starring Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Langella. This is a story almost everyone is familiar with - about a box with a button that when pressed makes the owner wealthy but causes some other harm somewhere in the world. But in the hands of Richard Kelly, this story isn't that simple. This definitely looks like he's back to his Donnie Darko roots, since those who saw his second film, Southland Tales, know it was a disaster. This looks a lot creepier than I expected. And I have no clue what's going on at the end, but I want to see it.
