Johnny Depp Not Sure About Returning to Gilliam's Don Quixote
Back in May, during Cannes, it was confirmed by Terry Gilliam himself that he was ready to venture back to the doomed Don Quixote project. It all started in 2000, when Gilliam started shooting The Man Who Killed Don Quixote with Johnny Depp and Jean Rochefort, but the production fell apart halfway through. Now he's ready to give it a second shot, but is Depp? Maybe not. CHUD has a few new quotes from Depp who spoke to press at the Public Enemies junket this week. "I love Terry and I'd do personally anything the guy wants to do," Depp said. But it's his complicated upcoming schedule that is one of his biggest concerns.

Rumor: Benicio Del Toro Also in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere?
Not that this is the kind of movie where it's exciting to hear that a big actor may be involved, but there's a rumor floating around (courtesy of Vulture) that Benicio Del Toro is also in Sofia Coppola's new hotel movie Somewhere. The project was first announced back in April and is currently shooting at the iconic and (in)famous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood (hey, I drive by there all the time!). We know that it stars Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning as a "bad boy actor" and his estranged 11-year-old daughter, respectively. We also know that Jackass star Chris Pontius has a supporting role, but now Benicio Del Toro is in, too?

Doug Jones Talks About Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein
From Abe Sapien to El Fauno to Silver Surfer to Frankenstein? We all know that Doug Jones is Guillermo del Toro's go-to guy for creature work and he is currently working on a new Frankenstein movie for Universal. So put two and two together and there you go. SciFi Wire caught up with Jones recently and asked him about the talk that Guillermo is gearing up for a Frankenstein costume fitting right before he's about to spend three years working on The Hobbit. "Guillermo did say to the press that he's already cast me as his monster, but we've yet to talk about it. But in his mind, if that's what he's decided, then it's done."

Another Boring Trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween II - Updated!
The Weinstein Company has debuted the second full trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween II and it looks just as bland, boring, and unexciting as the first trailer. I don't know what exactly went wrong, but this just looks terrible. Beyond the fact that they keep going back and forth on the title (is it H2, Halloween II, H2: Halloween 2, or what?), it looks like Zombie had some trouble coming up with a story that wasn't just a repeat of the first movie. Maybe I'm just not a big fan of Michael Myers like others out there. Whatever the case, I'm no longer planning to see this, even though I saw Rob Zombie's remake back in 2007. Are you?

Peter Farrelly Fearing for the Worst with The Three Stooges
When the news broke last week that Sean Penn had decided to take a year off from acting, the project that ended up getting the most flack around the web was the Farrelly Brother's new Three Stooges movie. Penn was attached to play Larry, along with Jim Carrey as Curly, and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. Over on HitFix, they were promptly told that the Three Stooges movie was still a "go" even without Penn. Although at a recent roundtable appearance (via NY Mag), co-director Peter Farrelly didn't sound so confident when asked about the movie. "I'm fearing a domino effect now," he admitted. Is there any hope for this?

First Look: Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Alice in Wonderland
Although earlier this morning we got our first official glimpses at Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, there were quite a few characters missing, most notably Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar, Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat, and the two brothers Matt Lucas plays - Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Luckily, Movies.ie (via SlashFilm) has scored an extra promo banner for Wonderland that features both Tweedledee and Tweedledum. If you thought those other photos looked weird, just wait until you see this.

Must Watch: Second Full TV Trailer for Inglourious Basterds!
It was way back in February when we saw the first teaser trailer for Inglourious Basterds. Now Quentin Tarantino is back to present the second official trailer (via TheMovieBox) for his new WWII extravaganza. There's a different feeling this time, though, since the film already had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Now it has a bit more buzz, both positive and negative. And we know that Christoph Waltz as the Nazi villain Col. Hans Landa and Mélanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus are the stand outs. Yet again, this trailer focuses more on the Basterds, who are only a minor part of the story. But this still looks great!

Check This Out: Spierig Brothers' Daybreakers Vampire Poster
More vampires? Haven't we seen enough of them with Twilight and True Blood? No, these are the dark, gritty vampires, and one of them in Willem Dafoe (and other is Ethan Hawke). Now I've got you interested! Daybreakers was first announced years ago, and we even featured some first look photos back in January of last year. Now our friends at Ain't It Cool News have finally debuted the first teaser poster. With any luck, this means we'll see a trailer this week. Lionsgate has scheduled this for release in January of next year. This looks a lot like the 30 Days of Night posters with a touch of 28 Days Later. Pretty badass, I'd say. You?

Fox Searchlight's Brilliant 500 Treats of Summer Promotion
When it comes to indie distributors, no one is better than Fox Searchlight. They really are the Pixar of the indie film world, not only with films they produce and develop, but also with the films they acquire from festivals - they're almost always great. You probably already know that they've got Marc Webb's wonderfully unique romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer due out in July, but earlier today, Searchlight coordinated one of the best promotions I've ever seen. They really know how to market their movies, especially the ones that people are falling in love with, and this 500 Treats of Summer stunt has created some great buzz.

First Look: Tim Burton's Trippy New Alice in Wonderland
We've seen glimpse of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland previously, but USA Today now has our official first look. And it's definitely not what we were expecting to see, that's for sure! Not only do they have three new gorgeous new concept art photos, but they reveal our first looks at Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen. "It has been Burton-ized" is how producer Richard Zanuck describes the director's vision of the Lewis Carroll classic. After shooting for only 40 days, they're working on adding CG animation and motion-capture creatures.

Visual Effects Supervisor Charles Gibson Directing The Goblin
Oscar winning visual effects supervisor and second-unit director Charles Gibson (seen above) will make his big screen directing debut with the family comedy The Goblin. The project is being developed by Daddy Day Care producer Matt Berenson, Wind Dancer Films principal Matt Williams, and production head Judd Payne. The script, written by Geoff Rodkey (Daddy Day Care, The Shaggy Dog, RV) revolves around a suburban family that moves into its new home only to find a "curmudgeonly" goblin who doesn't want them there. "It's about creating a goblin that will appeal to audiences of all ages," Williams explains.

Sony Dumps Steven Soderbergh's Moneyball Movie Last Minute!
A mere 3 days before that start of production, Columbia Pictures has decided to drop Steven Soderbergh's Moneyball. On Friday, Sony Pictures' Co-Chairman Amy Pascal placed the project into a “limited turnaround,” giving the filmmaker the chance to set it up at another studio, with Warner Brothers and Paramount the prime targets. The move came after Pascal read the final draft delivered last week by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian and found it very different from the earlier scripts she championed. Pascal was uncomfortable with how Soderbergh’s vision had changed and decided to stop the project before it began.
