From all of us at FirstShowing.net, we hope you have a Happy 4th of July! Whether you're out at a BBQ, enjoying the fireworks, or just catching up on some patriotic movies (suggestions to follow), we hope you're having a good time. If you need some Independence Day tips (in addition to, well, Independence Day), here are some good sites to check out: MTV's July 4th Holiday Movies To Celebrate Your Independence With, ScreenRant's Three Movies That Represent The American Spirit, CinemaBlend's American Flag's Weirdest Moments On Film, and lastly, Hero Complex's 4th of July Comic Book Suggestions. Enjoy the weekend!
"We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: 'We will not go quietly into the night!' We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!"

I'm an action film junkie but I doubt Independence Day will ever be hailed as a cinematographic masterpiece. It was what it was, a good action film based on rah rah America themes again.
