Rumor: Bob Uecker Says Major League 4 is in the Works?
July 5, 2009

I thought baseball movies weren't that popular any more? I mean, Sony just canned Steven Soderbergh's Moneyball movie. Moviehole is reporting a very sketchy rumor that claims that sports personality Bob Uecker said during the broadcast of a baseball game last week that a Major League 4 was in the works. The last Major League movie we saw came out in 1998 - Major League: Back to the Minors - and it pretty much flopped big time in theaters (only $3.5 million at the box office). But the original 1989 Major League movie is, of course, a sports comedy classic. Could Warner Brothers be trying to reboot this franchise, too?
Uecker, who appeared as Harry Doyle in all three of the original Major League movies, has apparently been contacted by the creative team behind those first three. "It's not the first time Uecker has mentioned it in recent weeks." I don't know what to make of this news. Baseball movies really aren't that popular any more and I don't think bringing back something like Major League would all of a sudden change that, especially because the last movie was so awful. But then again, there is the possibility that they could be rebooting this, and bringing back Charlie Sheen or Corbin Bernsen? Who knows what the real details behind this are.
For now, take this news with a grain of salt, as we haven't heard any confirmation from Warner Brothers or anyone else. And word is that it may go straight-to-DVD, but we'll keep you updated on its development!

I see no valid reason for Warner Bros to do this….even less of a reason for anyone to see it.

could be interesting, all those guys would be close to retirment veterans if not already on the golf course, so i wonder how they would play vaughn and cerrano into it.

Oh gosh…why!?! They know they could pay some no body out there with a script as good, better, or maybe only half way decent for half or a quarter of what they pay this reboot idiots and at least it'd be original. Hollywood is going to have issues the next couple of years when all these come out.

#1 I believe there is certainly valid reason to do this. We have to get Wesley Snipes off the infermercials with Chuck Norris. Lats… Traps… D'oh!

Hey if they could get Charlie Sheen and Tom Berenger back I'd see this opening day.

They should reboot the franchise with the Nationals as the team. Nobody worse than the Nats these days.

Any chance they can break Wesley Snipes out of jail to reprise his role?

I was watching the Cubs vs. Brewers game and Bob Uecker was being interviewed by Len Kasper and Bob Brenly and he said, without hesitation, that they are currently working on a fourth Major League movie. He did admit that the third one was just terrible, as well.
