Steven Soderbergh is Interested in a Sequel to The Limey?

He may no longer be directing Moneyball, so what is Steven Soderbergh considering doing next? I think he's feeling a bit sore at the moment - his last two big projects, Moneyball and that Cleopatra 3D musical - were both shelved. So why not revisit one of his own classics from 1999? Soderbergh's wife, Jules Asner, was the guest on the latest Adam Corolla Podcast (via SlashFilm) and, as expected, eventually talked a bit about her husband and what he's currently up to. "He wants to do a sequel to The Limey, and Terence Stamp wants to do it. Terence and Michael Keaton." Whoa, really?! This is the first time we've ever heard of this.
The Limey is one of Soderbergh's greats that he did right before he really broke out with Erin Brockovich, Traffic, and Ocean's Eleven. It's a crime thriller, starring Terence Stamp, about an extremely volatile and dangerous Englishman who goes to Los Angeles to find the man he considers responsible for his daughter's death. Keaton wasn't in the original, and hasn't done too much besides direct and star in the indie The Merry Gentleman recently, but throwing around his name definitely ups the ante a bit (along with Stamp, obviously). Asner would certainly be one to know this kind of stuff, so it sounds like it's really in the works.
As for his other projects, Asner talks briefly about the Liberace biopic, which could be next for Soderbergh if nothing else works out, and also a bit about The Informant, which is the Matt Damon movie we recently debuted a trailer for. "It's really good, it's one of my favorite movies he's ever done," she said about The Informant, which is great to hear. We'll keep you updated, as I don't expect Soderbergh to take any time off.

it's hard to hear..but pretty sure she said Michael Caine..not Keaton.

I'm iffy, as long as he can capture the awesomness of The Limey I'll give it a shot.

In a lot of ways I still consider The Limey to be Soderbergh's best film. I really hope this gets made.

Oh come on, lets make a sequel to Rushmore and Magnolia while we're at it.
The Limey was flawless! It took an overused plot, and made it into an incredibly unique and well made film.
And just when you think it couldn't get any better, it gave us an incredible ending with such point and originality when looked deeper at.
Perfect film, come on Soderbergh, leave it be as a stand alone! Go make Oceans fifty.
