Rogue Pictures Hires a Director for the Hack/Slash Movie
July 15, 2009
by Alex Billington
You might remember reading, more than a year ago, that Rogue Pictures was adapting the comic book series Hack/Slash. Street Fighter screenwriter Justin Marks had been hired to write the script, which it turns out probably wasn't the best idea. However, Rogue is still pushing forward and has hired first-time director Fredrik Bond to direct the movie. Bond's career so far has been directing commercials (and a short film) and this marks his feature debut. Several other directors, including newcomer Todd Lincoln, have been attached, but it looks like it's officially set to start shooting sometime this winter with Bond at the helm.
Hack/Slash focuses on Cassie Hack, a young woman who symbolizes the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. Hack not only survived, she has become a killer of killers and travels to small towns across the country hunting homicidal maniacs and serial killers like Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. She travels along with Vlad, a "hulking companion" who serves as her protector. It's a very sexy series and I would imagine Rogue is pursuing Megan Fox, but considering she just did Jennifer's Body, she'll probably skip this. That said, I will be very curious to see who they do cast to play Cassie, as she better be beautiful!

About time! Hack/Slash has had "soon to be a major motion picture" on it's cover for so long, I started to think it was just part of the logo!
I'm thinking Megan Fox still has a shot at this (even with Jennifer's Body) because not only is she hot, she's "hot right now". Like Ryan Reynolds - you get a few choice roles and start some buzz and suddenly everyone wants to cast you for everything. Hell, Shia Lebeouf owes his career to it. Plus, she's expressed interest in it from the very get go and I doubt very highly that whoever is casting it wouldn't want to pursue that.

So does she really fight Mike Meyers or Voorhees, or is it something LIKE those characters instead? I would think there would be copyright troubles in using those characters…

Megan Fox is a pretty good choice but she's kinda tan to play Cassie Hack. Cuz Cassie's kind of a pale almost gothy type of girl. But I can't really think of anyone better.
