Must Watch: Wonderful Where the Wild Things Are Featurette

One of the best presentations I saw yesterday at Comic-Con was for Where the Wild Things Are Featurette. The panel kicked off with this short featurette and included a brief appearance by the movie's young star (seen above), aptly named Max Records, who gave a hilarious speech. Anyway, the other scenes we were shown were wonderful as well, but this featurette, which also has the book's original author Maurice Sendak talking about working with Spike Jonze, really set the tone. If you thought that teaser trailer looked great or are even still hesitant about this, I suggest you watch this featurette, it's wonderful.

Where the Wild Things Are is directed by visionary filmmaker Spike Jonze, of films like Being John Malkovich and Adaptation previously as well as numerous famous music videos as well. The screenplay was co-written by Spike Jonze and author Dave Eggers, a former Salon.com editor who also wrote Sam Mendes' Away We Go. This is based on Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book of the same name. Warner Brothers will finally bringing Where the Wild Things Are to theaters everywhere in October 16th.

I so wanna see this. It gave me a Neverending Story vibe for some reason.
It summoned up childhood memories. And the "monsters" look so adorable and cuddly.
Pretty sure I will cry at some point during this movie.

This whole fiasco with them trying to censor him and his adaptation is such a clear demonstration of
how little the hollywood production system understands about how to work with film makers to "help" fulfill their vision.
I can't wait for this. I am excited even more now.

This is going to be a great addition to to my sons library when it come out….This is a great story to read and he will love seeing it…It will make it more real to him….and thus advancing his imagination to higher greater worlds…Im very please from what i have seen so far and am very excited….Im glad to see that they actually used the writers input in this…it shows alot of respect for the original work…..and by the way emo kids don't ruin things…hollywood does….

This is amazing. Of all the movies in the past 10 years this is the film I get most emotional about when I see video on it. Spike Jonze is amazing and will introduce an entirely new generation to the magic that is Where the Wild Things Are.
This is a must see.
