Warren Ellis Writing a New King Arthur Movie Called Excalibur

Although Comic-Con has officially wrapped up, there is still plenty of news coming out of there. One story that slipped through the cracks comes from prolific comic book author Warren Ellis, who announces on his own official blog that he's writing a new script for Hollywood Gang, the producers of 300, called Excalibur that's about King Arthur. He doesn't give too many more details, but does say that his treatment is called "Untitled Arthurian Project" and that he's "working directly with Gianni Nunnari, Oliver Kramer and Craig Flores." Hollywood Gang also recently optioned Ellis' graphic novel Ocean. Read on for more.
Here's the thing about this. Ellis says that at Hollywood Gang, it's called Excalibur, and he links to this article on Wikipedia. So is this a remake of John Boorman's 1981 King Arthur movie? Or just a re-imagining or something else entirely? I'm not entirely sure, but it could be good, especially coming from Warren Ellis, who not only is behind the "G.I. Joe: Resolute" TV show but has also written comics like Excalibur (the X-Men offshoot), Thor, and Dr. Strange. That old Excalibur movie is pretty much the same King Arthur story that we all know. I'll be very curious to see how Ellis' take might differ from everything we've seen.

John Boorman's King Arthur was great, so if it does prove to be a remake I'll check it out.
If it is a re-imagining I'll still check it out.
But to be honest I'd rarther him come up with his own style of Arthur and not re-attempt to creat one bases off of Boorman's.

yes but it's another movie that was good enough for the time and now so it doesn't need a reboot.

the warlord chronicles by bernard cornwell tells an amazing rendition of the Arthur tale, I would love to see that made into a movie. Completely blows away any other arthur retellings
