Rodriguez, Pena, and Moynahan Cast in Battle: Los Angeles
July 29, 2009
by Alex Billington
The cast of Jonathan Liebesman's new sci-fi action film Battle: Los Angeles is finally starting to come together. It was already announced late last year that Aaron Eckhart would star as a Marine staff sergeant. THR announces today that Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena and Bridget Moynahan have also joined the cast. Battle: Los Angeles is about a Marine platoon that faces off against an alien invasion in Los Angeles. Its been described as a Black Hawk Down-like energetic action movie. Rodriguez will play Crpl. Adriana Santos, a member of a radio battalion; Moynahan will play a veterinarian. Shooting starts this fall.
Battle: Los Angeles is a movie I've been looking forward to quite a bit. Something about it just sounds like it'll be pretty frickin' awesome, and I've heard that there was a rewrite of Chris Bertolini's script (that was initially reviewed poorly online). This is an interesting casting announcement because I'd expect to hear more male names involved in this (as they've got to fill up an entire Marine platoon) but at the same time, both Rodriguez and Moynahan are great actresses and I'm happy to see them involved. Though I am a bit worried about what kind of alien invasion action story we'll see that involves a veterinarian? Stay tuned!

I read the script and it was fucking terrible. One of the worst scripts I've ever read. How this even managed to sell, let alone get a green light is beyond me.
Fucking vile dreck.

Why does this sound familiar? Anyway, could be good or bad. These kind of movies vary vastly on how they'll turn out. Good cast means little. It could be campy to the nth degree or it could be Black Hawk Down with aliens or Concrete Jungle.

Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez… interesting! Sounds risky, but I'll withhold judgment till teasers.

So they made a shitty script a little less shitty? #4, when you say this sounds familiar I don't know if your talking about "Battle of Los Angles". That was a story put out by the news papers in 1942 about UFO's seen and shot at in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas. No one knows what it was and of course our military denies they even shot one round. True story, it's very interesting. I wonder if the movie is gonna be based loosely off of this?

It's all good! It already sounds good to me. It appears this flick will be what "Independence Day" should have been. I'm there!

So why do aliens want LA?
Moynahan seems to keep playing the same roles all the time. So does Rodriguez.
