Is Monsters Inc 2 Inching Along One Website at a Time?
July 31, 2009

Disney and Pixar keep denying it, but we keep discovering things that seem to say it's true. Jim Hill Media published an interesting article looking at a batch of new domain names that Disney recently registered. I know that this is kind of bottom-of-the-barrel snooping, but it's one of the only ways to get unofficial early confirmation. One group of new domain names registered were for World War Robot, the brand new Jerry Bruckheimer project that was just announced tonight (read all about that here). The other new domain name registered - Monsters2.com. So does this mean that Monsters Inc 2 is officially coming soon?
We've heard off-and-on for roughly a year now that Monsters Inc 2 might be Pete Docter's follow-up to Up from this year. No one would confirm that this was true, including Pete Docter or John Lasseter, but back in June, a report from Jim Hill claimed that buyers behind closed doors at the Licensing International Expo were told that it was coming in 2013. That's a very long way out, but considering web domains are so easily claimed by squatters, Disney was probably playing it safe since, well, they're probably actually going to make this. Jim Hill says that it's a sure sign they're developing something when they buy a domain name.
Of course, you already know to take this news with a grain of salt. It's still a rumor until Disney or Pixar make an official announcement. But we're still crossing our fingers and hoping this means it is on its way!

They would be fools to not make this movie. Toy Story 3 is going to break every record going for animated movies, and Monsters Inc 2 will do very well for itself and wont be too fair behind in terms of box office gross.

With the success of the first one I'm surprised this one took so long to get going. Not sure what the story will be.

I think it is more likely than not that a sequel will be made, but I don't want it to happen. Monsters Inc. has my favorite ending.
Now if it does happen will I go see it? Of course! Pixar is fantastic. But…. If they keep making sequels to all their films I feel they will risk losing their position of critical superiority.
I'm just going to not worry about this because they made my favorite, Wall-E, then they made another fantastic movie, Up!

I always loved Monsters Inc. The story was just so adorable, funny and heart warming.
Boo and her "Kitty"…were so cute!
I actually cried at its ending. Not because it was sad, but because it was so perfect.
Maybe a sequel would take away from that a bit, but all those years I was hoping for one.
And I have perfect faith in Pixar. I can't really recall disliking any of their movies. Instead I have a hard time picking my ultimate favorite.
So, for now I am greatly looking forward to Toy Story 3. And if there will be another Monsters Inc., I will definitely go see it.
