More DC Comics Movies on the Horizon: Flash, Bizarro, Aquaman
"A year after The Dark Knight became a worldwide phenomenon, there are more DC Comics adaptations in the works than at any other point since the company was acquired by Warner Bros. in 1969." Really? All that I keep hearing about are Marvel movies! Of course, we know about Green Lantern, The Losers, and Jonah Hex, but what else is there? Thankfully, the Hollywood Reporter has published a article looking at all of the DC Comics movies in the works and a bit of news about hiring on a few DC writers as consultants. It looks like DC might finally be setting up their game to compete with the ever-growing Marvel Studios.

Stuart Beattie on What to Expect in His New Tarzan Movie
Here's a project that I'm sure most of you weren't expecting to hear about. One of the many projects that Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriter Stuart Beattie has in the works is Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle, another live-action Tarzan movie for Stephen Sommers to eventually direct. Collider caught up with Beattie and talked with him about a lot of his projects, but this is one in particular that we haven't heard much of recently. Additionally, Beattie talks quite a bit about the script, the setting and details of the story, and just what we can expect. As for its status, he explains that Warner Brothers is currently fine tuning the budget.

Morgan Freeman Joins Warren Ellis' Comic Book Movie 'Red'
He's back again for another comic book movie. Morgan Freeman is in talks to star alongside Bruce Willis in Summit Entertainment's espionage thriller Red, based on the WildStorm/DC Comic written by Warren Ellis. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing along with DC Comics' Gregory Noveck overseeing. The screenplay was written by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber, who also adapted Whiteout. No director has been hired (or announced yet), although I expect we'll be hearing about one fairly soon. We first wrote about this movie a year ago, so it's good to hear that it's finally moving along smoothly.

Voltron Movie in Development Again with Dark Knight Producer
If you're a big fan of Voltron, then we've got some good news. THR's Risky Biz Blog announces that the live-action rights to a Voltron movie have switched owners. Charles Roven (The Dark Knight), Richard Suckle (The International) and Steve Alexander are the new producers on this. They replace Mark Gordon who had brought on Justin Marks, the screenwriter responsible for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Marks had written a Voltron script that focused on an alien invasion in an apocalyptic North America. The new owners will restart development on this from scratch and I believe will throw out Marks' screenplay.

DiCaprio Hires a Screenwriter for His Twilight Zone Movie
It was first announced more than a year ago that Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way would be bringing us a new Twilight Zone movie. Variety announces today they've brought on Rand Ravich (The Astronaut's Wife, NBC's "Life") to write a script based on the iconic TV series. No other details were revealed, however the project seems to still be set up at Warner Brothers. Word from the original announcement last year is that this version will have "one continuing story line based on one or more episodes." But which episodes? That's what I want to know! Rod Serling's original "Twilight Zone" series ran for five seasons from 1959.

Imagi's Introduction to Astro Boy Early Presentation Video
Don't know much about Astro Boy? Don't worry, Imagi has you covered. The studio behind the upcoming CGI animated Astro Boy movie put together a quick introduction and presentation on the movie that ended up online via Sina.com. I have a feeling this was made a while ago, but it's still awesome to see (especially with that Linkin Park song). Some of the footage seen in the second half of this comes from the most recent teaser trailer that was released in March. Other than that, we haven't seen much new footage from Astro Boy in a while, although I expect a new trailer and a lot more to be shown this week at Comic-Con. Enjoy!

Fan Art of Ryan Reynolds in Costume as the Green Lantern
It didn't take long for the Green Lantern fans to whip up some early fan art of Ryan Reynolds in costume as Hal Jordan for Martin Campbell's Green Lantern movie. It was confirmed just recently that Reynolds was officially cast. You might've already seen this art somewhere around the web, but if not, you can see both of them below. The first one comes from GeekTyrant and is a simple Photoshop job. The second one, which seems to be everyone's favorite, comes from SlashFilm and is a bit more complex. It was created by "Josh MC" and is a much more cinematic version of the Green Lantern than the one seen in the comics.

Check This Out: Movie Monsters Size Comparison Chart
I've been known to post random articles with cool content that is somehow related to Cloverfield (like this one). While this chart I'm featuring today does include Cloverfield, that's not the only monster on it. Our friends at GeekTyrant found a great chart comparing some 11 notable movie monsters and their sizes. It starts with Chucky from Child's Play, believe it or not, and also includes the Wicked Witch of the West, Tyrannosaurus Rex, King Kong, the Rancor from Star Wars, Megatron, the 50 Foot Woman, Mr. Stay Puft from Ghostbusters, the Tripods from War of the Worlds, Godzilla, and, of course, the Cloverfield monster.

First Italian Trailer for Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol
Disney still hasn't actually released the US trailer for Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol, but thanks to the Italians (via Rama's Screen), we have our first look at the Italian version of the trailer. Unfortunately this trailer is so low quality (it was bootlegged with a video camera) that I'm not even going to include it in the trailers section. I can tell you that this the very same trailer that they will show in the US at some point, as Disney showed this to me a month ago. Isn't it a bit interesting that the movies they mention in relation to Robert Zemeckis are Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, and The Polar Express. What about Beowulf?

Even Paul Giamatti's Cold Souls Indie Has a Viral Website!
A few of you may be looking forward to the upcoming Charlie Kaufman-like indie flick Cold Souls that stars Paul Giamatti as Paul Giamatti (you can watch the trailer here). Well believe it or not, this trippy little indie has a viral website of its own, for the company that the film is about - The Soul Storage Company. You can find the website here - TheSoulStorageCompany.com - and check it out. Apparently it gives you the ability to add your own soul to their database and explore details about the company like it actually exists. They've even taken out real ads in New York's Village Voice newspaper since they're based out of Jersey.

Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo Screening at Comic-Con Next Week
Yep, next week is Comic-Con. It'll be an exciting time for everyone, even if you're not going to be there in San Diego. One extra special event that I wanted to make mention of is a screening of Hayao Miyazaki's new movie Ponyo that our friends at HitFix are hosting. They've partnered with Disney to present the English dubbed version of Ponyo on Friday, July 24th, starting at 8:00PM. Best of all, though, is that the legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki himself will be there. He will be introducing the film alongside of HitFix's Drew McWeeny - which is very rare occurrence and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Don't miss this screening!

More Iron Man 2 First Look Photos: Rhodey, Hammer, Potts
Entertainment Weekly definitely got the big scoop on Iron Man 2 this week! Not only did they debut that badass cover shot and our first look at Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, but hidden deep inside the mag are a few more shots from the movie, including our first official look at Don Cheadle as the new Rhodey, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer (at least in the background), and Gwyneth Paltrow back again as the lovely Miss Pepper Potts. Unfortunately the photos weren't released online, so we have to turn to our friends over at SlashFilm for the scans. They're not the best photos (they're a bit small and cramped), but they are new!
