Stephen Chow is Entirely Out of Seth Rogen's Green Hornet
Wait, when did this happen? Sometime last week, a sketchy article hit SpoilerTV that contained, simply, a copy/pasted line from a casting call for the role of Kato in Green Hornet. There was no information - just a description of the character. But the last we knew, Stephen Chow had been cast in that role. Seth Rogen had been dying to get him, as he'd be the perfect Kato, and for a while he even had him attached to direct the movie. Apparently following his decision to drop out as director, it took too long for it to find its legs again, as Chow has moved on to a new movie (or so CHUD says) and due to scheduling can't star anymore.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Teaser
Damn that is a long title. AOL has just debuted the teaser trailer for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief based on the book by Rick Riordan. 17-year-old Logan Lerman stars as Percy Jackson, a boy who discovers that he's the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods. While this does seem to play a bit more to the younger demographic, the one thing I am excited about is the return of the teaser that barely shows any real footage. Also, don't forget, as dark as this looks, it's actually a comedy - Sean Bean plays Zeus and Steve Coogan plays Hades.

Emily Blunt and Matt Damon Starring in a Philip K. Dick Movie
That headline may be just a bit misleading. The project is titled The Adjustment Bureau and is a sci-fi love story based on the Philip K. Dick short story titled "Adjustment Team" (found in this collection). THR announces that Emily Blunt will star opposite Matt Damon in the film, which is being written and directed by screenwriter George Nolfi (Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, The Bourne Ultimatum). Universal is developing the project with Media Rights Capital. It sounds like this will be going into production soon and be the next project for both Blunt and Damon, however, no start date was announced in the THR article.

Check These Out: Awesome Early 'Let Me In' Concept Posters
Whoa! Just when we thought that director Matt Reeves hadn't even finished casting his in-the-works Let the Right One In remake, we already have three awesome posters? SlashFilm has dug up these poster designs for Let Me In, the Colorado-set US remake of the beloved Swedish vampire film, which are all actually very cool. As far as I know, these aren;t official posters (since it hasn't even started shooting), but rather early sales posters created to help sell the film in markets and get funding. So they don't feature the actual cast or anything like that - but they're the same kind of posters I saw up all over Cannes. Anyway, check 'em out!

First Batch of Films for the 2009 Fantastic Fest Announced!
The first wave of content for the 2009 Fantastic Fest held at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas, has been announced today (via the official website)! Leading off the announcement is the opening night film: Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) returns with Gentlemen Broncos. Jared Hess and Jemaine Clement will both be live in person. This is Fantastic Fest's fifth year and it seems to only be getting better each and every year. I attended last year and had a blast and I'm planning to attend again this year. Fantastic Fest is the premium genre film fest; I suggest that anyone who loves foreign or genre films should try to attend!

Circus Showman P.T. Barnum's Biopic Being Made at Columbia
"The Greatest Show on Earth!" Phineas Taylor Barnum, more commonly known as P.T. Barnum, is to be the subject a new biopic being written by Moneyball writer Stan Chervin. Columbia Pictures has acquired a currently untitled pitch from Chervin that will cover the early years of Barnum, who rose from a shopkeeper to the charismatic showman who created the circus that eventually became known as Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth. Todd Garner, who is producing Sorcerer's Apprentice, will produce this through his Broken Road Productions company. No other details about this were revealed, but I'm still intrigued.

Denzel Washington Drops Out of Tony Scott's Unstoppable
Is there anyone who didn't see this coming? Variety has confirmed that Denzel Washington has dropped out of Tony Scott's upcoming runaway train movie Unstoppable that was also set to co-star Chris Pine. A few weeks back, it was reported that production had stopped on Unstoppable (that's not even a pun) due to the cost being too high. Now it suffers another setback - Washington has formally withdrawn from the film and is looking at other projects to keep him busy this autumn. Given the rather lackluster performance of The Taking of Pelham 123 (its only made $61 million), yet another train movie, it's probably for the better.

First Poster for Lone Scherfig's Sundance Hit 'An Education'
I am completely and thoroughly in love Carey Mulligan, I admit it! Movie City News has just debuted the official poster for An Education, the Sundance hit starring Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard, who are also seen on the poster. This is going to be gaining a lot of buzz very soon, as I'm already predicting that Mulligan will win the Best Actress Oscar next year (or at least I think she deserves it). Not only is this just a great film that you should be sure to see when it hits theaters, but I just love this poster. It's simple and yet elegant and features the amazingly beautiful 24-year-old Carey Mulligan - what more do you need? Enjoy!

Harry Potter Madness - Let the Marathon Screenings Begin!
We're obviously back in the thick of all the Harry Potter madness this week - with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince due out on Wednesday. If you didn't already hear, I loved Half-Blood Prince, which means I'm getting more and more excited for the two-part conclusion that starts next year. However, it looks like Carmike Cinemas and Arclight have both jumped the gun. Carmike is hosting an all-day marathon screening of the first five movies before the sixth one on Tuesday, July 14th (at all of their 60+ locations) and the Arclight in Sherman Oaks is also showing the previous five all this week (but not as a marathon).

Natalie Portman Officially Cast in Kenneth Branagh's Thor!
Marvel has officially announced today that Natalie Portman has been cast as Jane Foster in Kenneth Branagh's Thor. In the early Thor comics, Jane Foster was a nurse who became Thor's first love. The character will be updated for the feature adaptation. Portman will star opposite Chris Hemsworth who will play Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain Loki. News that Portman was in the running first hit back in March, so this is only late confirmation. It's especially good, because I started to hear rumors that Jessica Biel was involved instead. Shooting will start in early 2010 after she finishes Your Highness.

Check This Out: Chris Weston's Book of Eli Comic-Con Poster
By now you've probably noticed that the Hughes Brothers' The Book of Eli is making its grand debut at Comic-Con during the big Warner Brothers panel on Friday morning. While this movie isn't specifically based on any comics or anything at all, they have involved a lot of prominent comic book people, including artists Chris Weston and Tommy Lee Edwards. Well, over on Bleeding Cool, they have an early look at the poster that Chris Weston designed for The Book of Eli at Comic-Con. It actually looks pretty badass and I thought I'd feature it today before it gets lost in the mix next week in San Diego. Check these out below!
